Adjusting

Scheme 12

Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to LOCK CARRIER COVER .

If the gap dimension is not even, position the wrench on the adjusting bolt -1- and adjust the gap dimension for the front bumper cover -2-.

Check the gap dimension again and repeat the adjustment if necessary.

Scheme 21

Proceed as follows

Release the retaining hooks -A arrows- using a screwdriver.

Remove the air intake grille -1- from the lower section of the bumper cover -arrow B-.

INSTALLING

Install in reverse order of removal.

Scheme 22

Proceed as follows

Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to LOCK CARRIER COVER .

Disconnect the electrical connector -2- for the outside air temperature sensor -G17- and the electrical connector -1- for the front parking aid sensor.

Remove the bolt -3-.

Scheme 23

Remove the bolt -2- and the quick-release coupling -1- on the front bumper noise insulation.

Remove wheel housing liner. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW .

Scheme 24

Disconnect the electrical connector -1- on the fog lamp.

Remove the bolts -arrows-.

Disengage the side walls on the front side panel and remove the bumper cover forward.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install wheel housing liner. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW .

Install the lock carrier cover. Refer to LOCK CARRIER COVER .

Scheme 25

Proceed as follows

Remove the bolts -1 and 2-.

Pull the front bumper cover end plate back.

Install in reverse order of removal.

Scheme 26

Proceed as follows

Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Remove the nuts -arrows- and the front bumper cover mount -1-.

2. For the correct tightening specifications, refer to «FRONT BUMPER COVER OVERVIEW»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-coupe) .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Scheme 27

Proceed as follows

Fold the washer nozzle cover -1- upward -arrow A-.

Using a screwdriver on the inner side, pry the spray nozzle cover -1- off the mount -2- -arrow B- and disengage it at the opposite side.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Press the spray nozzle cover on until it engages audibly.

Scheme 28

Proceed as follows

Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Disconnect the front parking aid sensor electrical wiring harness -1- -arrow- if applicable.

Guide the impact absorber -2- out of the brackets -A- and remove it.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Scheme 29

Proceed as follows

Note. When installing, position cable ties in the same place.

Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Disconnect the electrical connector -4- on the horns and free up the electrical wiring harness -3- on the horn bracket.

Free up the washer nozzle water drain hose by disconnecting the cable tie -1-.

Remove the bolts -arrows- and the bumper cover spacer -2-.

Remove the impact bar -5- from the mounts.

Note. Pry the impact bar out of the mounts if it is not easy to remove.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Scheme 30

Proceed as follows

Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Remove the side impact bar. Refer to IMPACT MEMBER .

Remove the headlamp washer system spray nozzle. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Mark the installation position of the mount to the lock carrier for installation later.

Remove the bolts -arrows-.

Remove the locating bolt -1-.

Tip the impact member mount -2- on the lock carrier out and remove it.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Tighten the impact member mount according to the marking made during removal.

Install the headlamp washer system spray nozzle. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Install the impact member. Refer to IMPACT MEMBER .

Install the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Scheme 31

Proceed as follows

Remove the expanding clip bolts -1, 2, 3 and 5-.

Lift the lock carrier cover -4- -arrow- and disengage it from the radiator grille.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the lock carrier cover with the guides in the mounts on the radiator grille and the bumper cover.

Insert the expanding clips and install the bolts as far as the stop.

REMOVING

Proceed as follows

Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Remove the side impact bar. Refer to IMPACT MEMBER .

Mark the installation position of the mount to the lock carrier for installation later.

Remove the bolts -arrows-.

Scheme 32

Remove the locating bolt -1-.

Remove the impact member mount -2- on the lock carrier.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Tighten the impact member mount according to the marking made during removal.

Install the impact member. Refer to IMPACT MEMBER .

Install the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Scheme 33

Proceed as follows

Remove the front bumper cover end plate. Refer to BUMPER COVER END PLATE .

Remove the bolts -arrows-.

Remove the trim molding -1- forward from the bumper cover -2-.

1. For the correct tightening specifications (Scheme 14)

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the front bumper cover end plate. Refer to BUMPER COVER END PLATE .

Scheme 34

Proceed as follows

Remove the tail lamp assembly. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Disconnect the electrical connector -1- on the parking aid control module -J446- if applicable.

Free up the electrical wiring harness on the control module bracket -arrow- by disconnecting the cable tie -2-.

Press the grommet -3- outward.

Remove the nut -2-.

Scheme 35

Remove the bolts -1- on the lower bumper cover section.

Loosen the bumper cover locking mechanism -3- by turning the clamping bolt counter-clockwise.

Scheme 36

Remove the left and right bolts -1- on the bumper cover side piece.

Remove the left and right bumper cover side pieces on the side panel -arrow-.

Remove the bumper cover -2-. The parking aid sensor electrical wire must be guided out through the body opening.

Free up the electric wiring harness spiral clips.

Note. Use a soapy solution if necessary make removal easier.

2. For the correct tightening specifications, refer to «REAR BUMPER COVER OVERVIEW»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-coupe) .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Connect the electrical connector on the parking aid control module -J446- if applicable. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Install the tail lamps. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Scheme 37

Proceed as follows

Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Remove the bumper cover side mount. Refer to BUMPER COVER SIDE MOUNT .

Remove the bolts -arrows- and the bumper cover locking mechanism -1-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the bumper cover side mount. Refer to BUMPER COVER SIDE MOUNT .

Install the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Scheme 38

Proceed as follows

Remove the bolts -1 and 3- on the bottom section of the bumper cover -2-.

Unclip the bottom section of the bumper cover -2- from the bumper cover -1- in the sequence -A to C arrows- beginning above the tail pipe.

Scheme 39

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

When pressing on, make sure the end points are guided into the bumper cover before pressing on for the final time.

Scheme 40

Proceed as follows

Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Remove the bolts -1 through 3-.

Release the retaining spring on the bumper cover locking mechanism -arrow- and remove the bumper cover side mount -4- downward.

1. For the correct tightening specifications (Scheme 17)

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Proceed as follows

Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Remove the socket for the trailer hitch. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Free up the spiral clip -1- for the wire.

Scheme 41

Note. Use a soapy solution if necessary make removal easier.

Disconnect the electrical connector on the radio frequency controlled clock receiver -J489- -2-, if applicable.

Note. If the impact bar is replaced -3-, remove the radio frequency controlled clock receiver. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Remove the tie-downs. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Loosen the left and right luggage compartment side trim in the rear area. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the bolts -arrows- and the impact bar -3-.

1. For the correct tightening specifications, refer to «REAR BUMPER IMPACT MEMBER OVERVIEW»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-coupe) .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the left and right luggage compartment side trim. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Install the tie-downs. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Install the socket for the trailer hitch. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Install the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Proceed as follows

Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Disconnect the electrical connector on the radio frequency controlled clock receiver -J489-.

Note. If the impact bar is replaced -3-, remove the radio frequency controlled clock receiver. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Remove the bolts -1- by counter holding the nuts -2-.

Remove the impact bar -3-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Proceed as follows

Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Remove the side impact bar. Refer to IMPACT MEMBER WITHOUT TRAILER HITCH .

Remove the tie-downs. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Loosen the left and right luggage compartment side trim in the rear area. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the bolts -arrows- and the impact bar mount -1-.

Scheme 42

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the left and right luggage compartment side trim. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Install the tie-downs. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Install the impact member. Refer to IMPACT MEMBER WITHOUT TRAILER HITCH .

Install the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER .

Scheme 43

Proceed as follows

Remove the lower section of the bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER LOWER SECTION .

Remove the bolts -arrows-.

Remove the trim molding -1- forward from lower section of the bumper cover -2-.
