Scheme 1

Scheme 1: LOCK CARRIER WITH ATTACHMENTS OVERVIEW
  1. Bolt 30 Nm 3 pieces per side.
  2. Side impact bar Secured to the lock carried with bolt -3-. Do not remove with the bracket when removing the lock carrier.
  3. Bolt 4 Nm Secures the impact bar to the lock carrier.
  4. Lock carrier NOTE: The coolant for the radiator must be drained before removing. Refer to «[For engine(s) CAUA] General Information»(ref-520122-S09688826772012123100000) or to «[For engine(s) CAEB] General Information»(ref-520126-S21222093122012123100000) or to «[For engine(s) CALA] General Information»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/cooling-fan/#32l-cooling-system-engine-codes-cala-coupe-as-of-122008) . Removing Remove the lock carrier cover. -- Remove front bumper, refer to «BUMPER COVER»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-coupe) . -- Disconnect all electrical wires and hoses to the lock carrier at the connection points. -- Disconnect the cable for the hood lock at the coupling. Refer to «HOOD RELEASE CABLE»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood-lids-coupe) . -- Remove the bolts -5-. -- Remove the bolts -1- on the longitudinal member (quantity: 3 per side). NOTE: The impact absorbers with the brackets are secured to the lock carrier with one bolt each -1- and must not be removed. -- Remove the bolts -6- on the lower lock carrier. -- Remove the lock carrier with the headlamps forward. Installing: in reverse order. Adjust the headlamps after installing.

Scheme 2: PLENUM CHAMBER BULKHEAD OVERVIEW
  1. Bolt 7 Nm
  2. Lock Washer When installing, simply press the plenum chamber bulkhead onto the threaded pins.
  3. Insulation The lock washer secures the insulation to the plenum chamber bulkhead.
  4. Nut 7 Nm
  5. Plenum Chamber Bulkhead NOTE: Note the different versions when removing. Before removing: -- Remove the tower brace. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/suspension-front/#front-suspension-coupe) . -- Loosen the washer fluid reservoir. -- Disconnect the vacuum line to the brake booster at the connection to the plenum chamber bulkhead. -- Unclip the vacuum line from the plenum chamber bulkhead. -- Coolant lines routed through the plenum chamber bulkhead are separated or removed. Refer to «[For engine(s) CAUA] Removal and Installation»(ref-520122-S20318272142012123100000) or to «[For engine(s) CAEB] Removal and Installation»(ref-520126-S07155360692012123100000) or to «[For engine(s) CALA] Removal and Installation»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/cooling-fan/#32l-cooling-system-engine-codes-cala-coupe-as-of-122008__removal-and-installation) . To remove, remove the bolts -1- and nut -4-.
  6. Seal Install the seal from underneath.
  7. Plenum Chamber
  8. Edge Protection Slide the edge protection onto the tab on the plenum chamber bulkhead.

Scheme 3: FENDERS
  1. Fender Removing -- Remove front bumper, refer to «BUMPER COVER»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers-coupe) . -- Remove wheel housing liner, refer to «FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-coupe__front-wheel-housing-liner-assembly-overview) . -- End plate, removing, refer to «FENDER END PLATE»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-front-coupe) -- Remove the bolts -2 and 4- and nuts -7- and the fender. Installing: in reverse order.
  2. Bolt 10 Nm
  3. Fender Flange
  4. Bolt 8 Nm
  5. Pop Rivet
  6. Rear Bracket Riveted to the fender
  7. Front Bracket Riveted to the fender
  8. Nuts 4 Nm

Scheme 4: FENDER BRACE
  1. Brace -- The bumper is removed and press the wheel housing liner to the side in the area of the brace. -- Remove the nuts -2- to remove it.
  2. Nut 8 Nm NOTE: The brace is secured on the right side with bolts tightened to 10 Nm.

Scheme 5: FENDER END PLATE
  1. Fender
  2. End Plate -- Remove front wheel. -- Remove the rear section from the wheel housing liner, refer to «FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-coupe__front-wheel-housing-liner-assembly-overview) . Loosen the windshield washer fluid reservoir on the left side. -- Remove the bolts -3-, unclip from the fender rear bracket and slide the end plate down and out, refer to 6 .
  3. Screws 1.5 Nm
  4. Clip Quantity: 2

Scheme 6: FENDER SEAL
  1. Seal Self-adhesive. Remove the protective film and slide the seal onto the fender mounting flange under the wheel housing liner as illustrated.
  2. Fender Flange Slide the seal onto the fender flange between the wheel housing liner and the inside of the fender.

Scheme 7: LOCK CARRIER BRACE
  1. Bolt 1.5 Nm
  2. Left Lock Carrier Brace Attached to the mounting bracket with the nut -6-.
  3. Lock Carrier
  4. Threaded Clip Slide into the lower lock carrier.
  5. Subframe
  6. Nut 23 Nm

Scheme 8: LOCK CARRIER COVER
  1. Cover To remove, remove the locking pin and release the expanding clip. Remove the expanding clip from the cover. Remove the cover back from the radiator grille. When installing, the tabs on the cover must engage on the radiator grille and on the sides of the bumper cover. Insert the expanding clip through the cover into the lock carrier and press the locking pin in.
  2. Expanding Clip Remove the clamping pin when removing. Only press the clamping pin in when installing. Quantity: 4

PLENUM CHAMBER COVER - VEHICLES THROUGH MAY 2008

Note. Note different versions. Additional covers may also have to be removed first depending on vehicle equipment.

Scheme 9: PLENUM CHAMBER COVER - VEHICLES THROUGH MAY 2008
  1. Right Auxiliary Cover Remove the front clip first when removing. NOTE: The cover and the plenum chamber cover may be one piece depending on vehicle equipment. Lift the front cover and remove it from the plenum chamber cover.
  2. Plenum Chamber Cover Windshield wiper arms removed. The left, center and right auxiliary covers are removed. Remove the clamps -3-. NOTE: For easier removal/installation, spray windshield edge strip with soapy solution. Remove trim panel upward diagonally from edge frame beginning at window edge. CAUTION: Risk of window breaking during installation Do not hit the trim when installing it. Carefully press in trim sideways, beginning in the edge frame.
  3. Clips Slide the clamps to the places shown after removing the plenum chamber cover.
  4. Windshield

Scheme 10: AUXILIARY COVERS, REMOVING
  1. Center Auxiliary Cover First unclip the bottom front, then loosen the rear retainers -2- (press together lightly from below) and remove it upward from the plenum chamber cover.
  2. Catch
  3. Left Auxiliary Cover First unclip the bottom front, then loosen the rear retainers and remove it upward out of the plenum chamber cover.

Scheme 11: REMOVING

Remove the bolts -3-.

Unclip the clips -2- from the mount and remove the plenum chamber cover -1-.

INSTALLATION

Install in reverse order of removal.
