Replace the clips if necessary. Follow safety measures when working with front side airbag crash sensors (pressure sensors). Scheme 2

Tighten the bolts -1, 2, 3 and 5- to 1.3 Nm

Finally, tighten the bolt -4- in the 16 mm hole to 1.3 Nm.

Turn off the ignition and remove the key.

Remove the trim panel. Refer to TRIM MOLDING .

Remove the switch trim. Refer to SWITCH TRIM .

Remove the bolts -1 through 5-.

Beginning at the bottom rear curve, unclip the door trim from the door using the pliers 3392 by sliding them between the door trim and the door in the securing clip area.

Carefully release bracket -3- on control cable bracket -1-.

Connect the electrical connector on the door control module with the window regulator motor.

First engage the door trim on the treble speaker bracket.

Position the door trim on the window recess and press it down firmly.

Carefully position the door trim clips on the door and press the door trim onto the door until it engages audibly on the mounting points.

Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

DOOR TRIM STORAGE POCKET REINFORCEMENT

On vehicles that have a reinforcement in the door trim storage pocket, it must be installed in the new trim after the trim is replaced.

Procedure

Punch markings -1 through 5- at the storage pocket on the rear side of the door trim and drill through them using the 5 mm drill.

Drill the hole -4- using a 16 mm step drill.

Insert the reinforcement -arrow- in the storage pocket as shown and slide it all the way back.

Pry the trim panel -1- off the door trim beginning at the rear using the trim removal wedge 3409.

Remove the trim panel from the door trim back in the direction of the -arrow- while lifting the rear area of the trim slightly using a trim removal wedge 3409 so the retaining hook inside the trim can be loosened from the opening in the door trim.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

First engage the trim panel on the inside of the door opener and then press it onto the door trim until it engages audibly.

Access/Start Authorization Switch -E415-, TRIM PANEL

Special tools and workshop equipment required

1. Special Pliers VAS 6339

Remove the MMI screen cover. Refer to MMI SCREEN .

Unclip the instrument cluster gap cover from the instrument panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAP COVER .

Remove the bolt -2- for the trim -1-.

Insert the special pliers VAS 6339 through the trim covers.

Scheme 49

Position the tips of the special pliers VAS 6339 on both holes -A arrows- on the access/start authorization switch -E415- -2-.

Press the VAS 6339 together -B arrows- to spread the tips of the pliers and release the trim retaining tabs.

Hold the VAS 6339 pressed with one hand and remove the trim -1- with the other hand -arrow C-.

Note. Only use the special pliers to release VAS 6339. Remove the trim by hand.

Install in reverse order of removal.

CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL VENT

Special tools and workshop equipment required

1. Hook 3438

Note. The instrument panel vent has a hole on both sides for attaching the hook 3438.

Remove the MMI screen cover. Refer to MMI SCREEN .

Alternating on both sides, carefully remove the instrument panel vent -1- from the installation opening using the hook 3438.

Vehicles with illumination: Disconnect the connector on the instrument panel vent.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. Check the clips for damage or deformation and replace them if necessary.

When sliding the instrument panel vent into the installation opening, make sure the air duct engages correctly.

Press the instrument panel vent into the installation opening as far as the stop.

REMOVING

Note. Be extremely careful when removing and installing because it is easy to damage the speaker trim.

Using a small screwdriver, carefully release the speaker trim -1- at the rear retaining pins -arrow- but only lift it up approximately 10 mm.

Scheme 51

Insert a long screwdriver under the speaker trim at the very front -arrow A- until it comes into contact directly on the right front retaining pins.

Scheme 52

Carefully rotate the screwdriver -arrow B- until the retaining pin -1- disengages from the guide -2-.

Repeat the procedure on the remaining retaining pins -3-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

First insert the speaker trim in the instrument panel and then press it on until it engages audibly.

Vehicles with speakers: Remove the center midrange speaker inside the instrument panel. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Remove the sunlight photo sensor -G107-. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Vehicles with speakers: Remove the center midrange speaker inside the instrument panel. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Remove the upper A-pillar trim A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM .

Remove the instrument panel central tube brace bolts -2-.

Disengage the brace -1- at the instrument panel and remove it.

Remove the top left and right instrument panel bolts -1- in the A-pillar area.

Remove the bottom left and right instrument panel bolts -2-.

Remove the left and right air duct bolts -arrows- on the instrument panel.

Remove the instrument panel bolts -1- on the center of the instrument panel central tube.

Disengage the bottom of the instrument panel on the bracket -2- -B arrow- at the same time.

Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle interior and lay it on a soft surface.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Position the instrument panel vent and guide the electrical connectors for the sunlight photo sensor -G107- and speaker through the openings in the instrument panel.

Check if there is a rubber buffer -3- on the clamp -2- on the lower windshield frame.

Scheme 57

When sliding the instrument panel -1- on, make sure the clips engage in the box-shaped profiles on the bottom side of the instrument panel.

Note. Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Align the instrument panel and tighten the bolts.

Connect the battery ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Note. If the airbag indicator lamp -K75- indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the vehicle diagnostic tester.

INSTRUMENT PANEL SIDE COVER

MMI SCREEN

Pry the MMI screen cover -1- out at the corners -arrow- using the trim removal wedge 3409 and remove it.

Disconnect the front passenger airbag -disabled- indicator lamp -K145- /emergency flasher button -E229- electrical connector and remove the cover.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Press the MMI screen cover on until it engages audibly.

Alternating between the sides, carefully remove the instrument panel vent -1- from the installation opening using the hook 3438.

Vehicles with illumination: Disconnect the connector on the instrument panel vent.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. Check the clips for damage or deformation and replace them if necessary.

When sliding the instrument panel vent into the installation opening, make sure the air duct engages correctly.

Press the instrument panel vent into the installation opening as far as the stop.

SIDE SPEAKER TRIM

Note. Be extremely careful when removing and installing because it is easy to damage the speaker trim. Removing and installing is identical for the left and right sides. The illustration shows the right speaker trim.

Scheme 63

Using a small screwdriver, carefully pry the speaker trim -1- out beginning at the corner -arrow-.

Carefully fold the speaker trim upward and remove it.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

First insert the speaker trim in the instrument panel and then press it on until it engages audibly.

Remove the nuts -2 through 4- on the bottom of the instrument panel.

Remove the left -1- and right -2- glove compartment brackets.

Position both glove compartment brackets so that tab -4- engages in hole -3- in the instrument panel.

Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

Remove the instrument panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL .

Remove the steering column. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Disengage the left instrument panel vent air duct at the instrument panel central tube. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Remove the right instrument panel vent air duct. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Remove the left fuse panel C -SC- and the right fuse panel D -SD- from the instrument panel central tube. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Remove the data bus on board diagnostic interface -J533- and lay it aside. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Remove the bolts -1- on the left and right of the central tube support and remove the bracket -2-.

Remove the left and right bolts -3- for the central tube support.

Remove the A/C unit bolt -1- on the left and right of the central tube support.

Remove the right lower A-pillar trim. Refer to A-PILLAR LOWER TRIM .

Disconnect the multi-pin electrical connectors from the right coupling station on the A-pillar. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Disconnect the electrical connector on the fresh air blower and free up the wires.

Remove the air intake chamber bracket bolts -1- on the instrument panel central tube.

Remove the nut -2-.

Remove the bolt -1- and nut -2-.

Tighten the 2 nuts -2- and -3- on the threaded pin -1- on the driver side A-pillar and remove the threaded pin.

Note. 2 technicians are needed to remove instrument panel central pipe.

Carefully pull the instrument panel central tube -1- up at the driver side while disengaging it from the A/C unit -3- and the upper -2- and lower -4- stop brackets.

Scheme 73

Remove the instrument panel central tube from the threaded pin on the A-pillar on the front passenger side.

Carefully tilt the top side of the instrument panel central tube back while pulling it up.

Remove the instrument panel central tube from the vehicle interior.

Carefully insert the instrument panel central tube -1- in the body.

Engage the instrument panel central tube on the A/C unit -3- and on the upper -2- and lower -4- stop brackets.

Align the instrument panel central tube -4- with the A-pillar.

Tighten the two nuts -2- and -3- on threaded pin -1- and insert the threaded pin in mount -5- on the A-pillar on the driver side and tighten.

1. The threaded pin must be installed completely and its collar must make contact with the mount on the A-pillar.

Tighten the left and right instrument panel central tube bolts and nuts.

A-PILLAR LOWER TRIM

Remove lower A-pillar trim bolt -1-.

Unclip lower A-pillar trim -2- from the side member -arrow- using the trim removal wedge 3409.

Pull the lower A-pillar trim back and remove it from the upper A-pillar trim.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Driver Side

Slide the lower A-pillar trim into the upper A-pillar trim and into the footrest.

Procedure for Both Sides of Vehicle

Clip the lower A-pillar trim in on the side member and stretch the door seal lip over.

A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM

Carefully unclip cap -1- with the "Airbag" symbol from the upper A-pillar trim using a screwdriver.

Remove the bolt -2-.

Carefully unclip upper A-pillar trim -3- beginning at the top using a trim removal wedge 3409 -arrow A-.

Pull the upper A-pillar trim out of the instrument panel -arrow B- and remove.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. If the trim clamps remain in the body mounting points, remove them and insert them in the trim. Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Remove any locking compound residue inside the threaded hole for the upper A-pillar trim bolt using a thread tap.

Note. If the threaded hole is not cleaned, the new bolt could seize up during installation and shear off when removed again.

Insert upper A-pillar trim -1- into instrument panel mount -2- and the lower A-pillar trim in the direction of the -arrow-.

Clip the upper A-pillar trim in and stretch the door seal lip over.

B-PILLAR TRIM

Pull the C-pillar trim out of the rear shelf and the side trim -B arrows- and remove it.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Position the C-pillar trim first on the rear shelf and then the side trim.

Pull the securing clip -2- out of the operating lever -1- slightly -arrow A- using a small screwdriver.

Pull the operating lever back -arrow B- to release the hood and hold it in this position.

Remove the center console bracket and lower the shift mechanism CENTER CONSOLE BRACKET .

Remove the lower A-pillar trim. Refer to A-PILLAR LOWER TRIM .

Remove the sill panel strips. Refer to SILL PANEL .

Remove the left and right front belt anchors. Refer to FRONT BELT ANCHOR .

Disengage the floor covering at brackets -1- and -2-.

Pull the floor covering -3- back.

Note. Make sure the floor covering does not tear at the openings.

Fold the floor covering lengthwise and remove it through a door.

Fold the floor covering lengthwise and lay it in the vehicle.

First slide the floor covering forward until the air duct and shift mechanism openings are aligned.

Then attach the floor covering at brackets -1- and -2-.

Pull the rear shelf forward -B arrows- and remove it.

SIDE TRIM

Remove the luggage compartment side trim. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM .

Unclip the side trim -1- beginning at the front using the trim removal wedge 3409 -arrows-.

Remove the rear belt anchor. Refer to REAR BELT ANCHOR .

Thread the belt webbing with seat belt latch out through the belt extraction panel.

Vehicles equipped with a treble speaker: Disconnect the harness connector and remove the side trim.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. If any clamps and clips remain in the body, remove them and insert them in the trim. Check clamps and securing clips for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Thread the belt webbing with seat belt latch through the belt extraction panel.

Install the rear belt anchor. Refer to REAR BELT ANCHOR .

Position the side trim and press it on until all the mounting points engage.

Stretch the door seal lip over the side trim.

SILL PANEL

Remove the bolts -arrows- on the sun shade guide strip.

Tilt the guide strip -3- in slightly and disengage both latches -2- and -4- by rotating slightly.

Remove the luggage compartment liner. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LINER .

Release the mounting bracket -1- using the trim removal wedge 3409 -arrows-.

Disengage mounting bracket and remove luggage compartment floor covering retainer -2-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Mounting bracket can be pressed down in one position on luggage compartment floor covering retainer.

Unclip the front luggage compartment mat -1- -arrows-.

Remove the luggage compartment floor covering.

Install in reverse order of removal.

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM

Note. Removing and installing is identical for the left and right sides.

1. Pry Lever - RMV Outside Mirror 80 - 200

Scheme 109

Remove the luggage compartment liner. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LINER .

Remove the rear cross panel trim. Refer to REAR CROSS PANEL TRIM .

Remove the tie-down. Refer to TIE-DOWNS .

Loosen the release cable with the remote unlocking handle and let it hang by the attached release cable. Refer to RELEASE CABLE WITH REMOTE CONTROL UNLOCK HANDLE .

Remove the expanding clip -1- with the pry lever 80 - 200.

Pry off the luggage compartment side trim -2- using the pry lever 80 - 200 from the body -A arrows-.

Remove the luggage compartment trim form the side trim -B arrows-.

Disengage the luggage compartment side trim at the hinges and remove it.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. If the trim clamps remain in the body mounting points, remove them and insert them in the trim. Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Press the luggage compartment side trim until it engages audibly.

Stretch the rear lid seal lip over the luggage compartment side trim.

REAR CROSS PANEL TRIM

Scheme 110

Remove the luggage compartment liner. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LINER .

Remove the lip of the rear lid seal in the area of the rear cross panel trim.

Unclip rear cross panel trim -2- upward vertically using a trim removal wedge 3409 -arrows-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. If the trim clamps remain in the body mounting points, remove them and insert them in the trim. Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Guide the left and right rear cross panel trim retaining tabs in the openings on luggage compartment side trim -1-.

Insert the rear cross panel trim so that the left and right tabs engage in pins -3-.

Push on the rear cross panel trim until it engages audibly and stretch the lip of the rear lid seal over the rear cross panel trim.

Scheme 111

Remove rear lid lock trim -1- in the direction of the -arrow-.

Install in reverse order of removal.

REAR LID TRIM

1. Pry Lever - RMV Outside Mirror 80 - 200

Remove the warning triangle bracket. Refer to WARNING TRIANGLE BRACKET .

Remove the rear lid lock trim. Refer to REAR LID LATCH TRIM PANEL .

Vehicles with an Emergency Release Inside the Luggage Compartment

Unclip cover -1- on operating lever -2-.

Disengage actuating link nipple -3- on operating lever.

Remove screw behind operating lever.

All vehicles

Unclip the stop rails using a screwdriver.

Remove the bolt -2-.

Pry rear lid trim -1- out using a pry lever 80 - 200 -arrows-.

Disengage the rear lid trim at the hinges and remove it.

Vehicles with an Emergency Release Inside the Luggage Compartment

Disengage rear housing on operating lever handle recess.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. If the trim clamps remain in the rear lid mounting points, remove them and insert them in the trim. Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Position the rear lid trim and push on it until it engages audibly.

Scheme 114

Remove the luggage compartment side trim. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM .

Press the rear sill panel frame -1- back out of the pins -arrows- and remove it.

Install in reverse order of removal.

Remove screws -arrows- and remove retaining hook -1-.

Install in reverse order of removal.

TIE-DOWNS

Note. Removing and installing is identical for the left and right sides.

Fold the tie-downs -1- upward.

Remove screws -arrows- and remove tie-down mount -2-.

Install in reverse order of removal.

Remove the warning triangle from the bracket by pressing the release.

Release the retaining tabs using a screwdriver -arrows- and remove the warning triangle bracket -1-.

Remove the right front door Removal and Installation .

Remove the front seat

2. Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat, refer to «POWER STANDARD FRONT SEAT»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/seats/#seat-frames-coupe__power-standard-front-seat) .
3. Super Sport seat, refer to «SUPER SPORT FRONT SEAT»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/seats/#seat-frames-coupe__super-sport-front-seat) .

Remove center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE .

Remove the center console bracket and lower the shift mechanism. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE BRACKET .

Remove the upper A-pillar trims. Refer to A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM .

Remove the C-pillar trims. Refer to C-PILLAR TRIM .

Remove the B-pillar trims. Refer to B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .

Remove sun visors. Refer to SUN VISOR .

Remove the sun visor center bracket. Refer to SUN VISOR CENTER BRACKET .

Remove the roof grab handle. Refer to ROOF GRAB HANDLE .

Remove the front interior lamp/reading lamp. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

Versions Equipped with a Sunroof

Scheme 117

Open the sunroof -1- all the way.

Open the sun shade -2- about 2 / 3 .

Clean release lever T10039 to avoid soiling headliner.

Scheme 118

Let the release lever T10039 slide along between the sunroof opening cover frame -2- and the headliner -1- until it touches one of the clips -3-.

Release the clips one after another using the release lever T10039 as shown in the illustration -arrow-.

All Vehicles

Remove the bolt -1- in the front interior/reading light roof opening.

Scheme 120

Unclip the headliner -1- at the rear of the body -arrows- and let it hang by the limiting straps.

Carefully lower the front of the headliner.

Scheme 121

Note. A second technician is needed to loosen the limiting straps and remove the headliner.

Disengage the headliner limiting straps -2- by pressing the catches together using needle nose pliers -arrows- and removing the clips from the body.

Note. If it is difficult to reach the limiting straps, cut them and replace them during installation.

Note. Remove the headliner -1- through the passenger door opening.

Lower the front of the headliner and rotate it while tilting the left side down and guiding the left front corner of the headliner under the instrument panel -3-.

Remove right door seal -2- in the area of the B-pillar and the roof frame.

Remove the right front corner of the headliner at the B-pillar and roof frame until the opening comes into contact on the B-pillar.

Press the top of the headliner up on the B-pillar and the roof frame while guiding the bottom out at the side member and A-pillar.

Press the top of headliner -1- up on the B-pillar/roof frame and continue pulling out until the opening -arrow- comes into contact with the B-pillar.

Scheme 122

Remove the headliner through the passenger door.

Note. If the headliner clamps remain in the body mounting points, remove them and insert them in the headliner. Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Country-specific with deformation elements: position self-adhesive deformation elements on the marks on the headliner and press firmly.

Position the top of the headliner on the B-pillar and roof frame and on the side member and A-pillar through the front passenger door opening.

Press the top of the headliner up on the opening on the B-pillar and the roof frame while guiding the bottom in at the side member and A-pillar.

Scheme 123

Rotate the headliner and bring it into the installation position by pressing the top of it up on the B-pillar and roof frame and then guiding the lower left front corner under instrument panel -3-.

Clip the limiting straps on the rear of the headliner into the body.

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following

Align the headliner before securing and press it into the body mounting points until the clips engage.

ROOF GRAB HANDLE

1. Long Reach Special Wrench for Slotted Bolts VAS 6543

Unclip expanding caps -1- and -3- to the locking position using an offset screwdriver -2-.

Remove the roof grab handle -4- from the body opening.

Insert the roof grab handles in the body cut-outs.

Press the roof grab handle expanding caps on until they engage completely.

ROOF REINFORCEMENT, VEHICLES WITHOUT SUNROOF, INSTALLING ON BODY

1. Assembly adhesive AK Adhesive -D 190 MKD A3

Procedure

Scheme 125

Remove headliner. Refer to HEADLINER .

Apply the beads of adhesive -arrow- to roof reinforcement as illustrated.

1. Distance between the adhesive beads -a- = approximately 90 mm (3.5 in).
2. Distance of the outer bead of adhesive to the edge of the roof reinforcement, dimension -b- = approximately 20 mm (0.75 in).

Mount the roof reinforcement -1- centered to outer sides and at distance -a- to the bow -2- of the front edge of the roof.

Scheme 126

1. Dimension -a- = 45 mm (1.75 in).

Push roof reinforcement from inside onto body roof.

Install the headliner HEADLINER .

Scheme 127

Disengage the sun visor -1- in the center of the vehicle from at the sun visor center bracket -2-.

Unclip the expanding cap -3- using a screwdriver.

Tilt the sun visor bracket down -arrow- and remove it.

Vehicles with illumination: Disconnect the connector and remove the sun visor.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Engage the sun visor bracket tab in the opening in the headliner.

Press the sun visor expanding cap on until it engages completely.

SUN VISOR CENTER BRACKET

1. Pry Lever 80 - 200

Scheme 128

Disengage the sun visor in the center of the vehicle at the center bracket and fold it to the side.

Unclip the sun visor center bracket cover -1- by sliding the pry lever 80 - 200 only approximately 1 mm under the cap -2 arrows-.

Note. If the pry lever 80 - 200 is shoved further underneath, it will then be under the center bearing for the sun visor. At that point, it is not possible to pry off the cover.

Remove sun visor center bracket -3- -arrow 4-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. Make sure the expanding clips are not damaged when inserting the sun visor center bracket.
