  1. Glass Panel Removal «GLASS PANEL»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof)
  2. Left/right boot Removal, refer to «BELLOWS»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof)
  3. Inner trim Removing and installing, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof)
  4. Rear seal Self-adhesive: NOTE: The front and rear seals must be pressed on from the end caps outward towards the center. -- Tilt the glass panel. -- Remove the old seal from the glass panel and remove the adhesive residue completely. -- Clean adhesive surface with Cleaning Solution -D 009 401 04-. -- Apply bonding agent -D 009 200 02- to the adhesive surface and let it dry for 10 minutes. -- Remove the protective film from the adhesive tap and press it firmly onto the edge of the panel as shown.
  5. Front seal Self-adhesive -- The glass panel is removed. NOTE: The front and rear seals have end caps. Press the seal on by pressing on the end caps and working toward the center. -- Remove the old seal from the glass panel and remove the adhesive residue completely. -- Clean adhesive surface with Cleaning Solution -D 009 401 04-. -- Apply bonding agent -D 009 200 02- to the adhesive surface and let it dry for 10 minutes. -- Remove the protective film from the adhesive tap and press it firmly onto the edge of the panel as shown.
  6. Body seal For removal, the glass panel is removed and the seal is removed from the side body flange. Installing, refer to «BODY SEAL, INSTALLING»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof)
  7. Bolt 2.5 Nm
  8. Glide piece The sun shade is removed.
  9. Mount Self-adhesive. To remove, warm the body using a hot air gun if necessary. -- Remove adhesive residue. NOTE: Adhesion surface must be free of dust and grease. -- Clean adhesive surface with Cleaning Solution -D 009 401 04-. -- Remove the protective film, position the mount with the front stop and press it only firmly.
  10. Sun shade Removal: «SUN SHADE»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof) The glass panel is removed. The wind deflector is removed. CAUTION: Do not operate the sun shade when it is removed or it will be damaged and will have to be replaced.
  11. Bolt 1 Nm
  12. Wind deflector Removal item, refer to item 4 4
  13. Bolt 1.5 Nm

MOTOR, ADAPTING

Note. The engine must be adapted after it is replaced or after the battery is disconnected. Proceed as follows for this.

Switch ignition on, all doors are closed.

Pull the motor operating switch down and hold it there during the entire adaptation procedure.

After about 10 seconds, the glass panel >>1<< will tilt and then close again.

The adaptation ends when the panel closes and the operating switch can be released.

  1. Cleaning and pulling tool VAS 6620

  1. Front water drain hose Front water drain hoses are routed in A-pillar with clamps and end in the lower A-pillar behind the door. NOTE: Use cleaning and insertion aid VAS 6620 to clean the water drain hoses. -- Cleaning is performed at lower end of hose. -- If the sunroof panel is removed, the cleaning can also be started from the upper hose end.
  2. Sunroof frame
  3. Rear water drain hose Rear water drain hoses are routed in C pillars and end in wheel housing above wheel housing liner. NOTE: Use cleaning and insertion aid VAS 6620 to clean the water drain hoses. -- Once the sunroof panel is removed, start cleaning from the upper hose end. -- If the wheel housing liner is removed, the cleaning can also be started from the lower hose end.
  4. Clip Note different versions.

With the glass panel tilted, remove the bellows -1- forward out of the mount -2- from behind.

To install, remove the glass panel from the slotted guide rails.

Lift the glass panel slightly and insert the bellows diagonally in the mount.

Press the bellows completely into the mount in stages using a plastic wedge.

The glass panel is removed.

Remove the old bellows from the glass panel and remove the adhesive residue completely.

Clean adhesive surface with Cleaning Solution -D 009 401 04-.

Apply bonding agent -D 009 200 02- to the adhesive surface and let it dry for 10 minutes.

Remove the protective film from the adhesive tape and press the new bellows on firmly at a distance of >>dimension a<< = 32 mm to the edge of the panel.

The glass panel is removed.

To remove, remove the side seal from the body flange.

When installing, press the seal -1- onto the body flange firmly at a distance of approximately 200 mm from the curve on >>mounting point A<<.

Press the seal on all around and compress the excess length evenly in >>area B<< if necessary.

  1. Glass Panel Removing -- Open the sun shade. -- Remove the bolt on the front glass panel in the center. -- Remove the inner trim, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof) . -- Tilt the glass panel and remove the bolts on the slotted guide rails. -- Carefully pull the bellows sideways out of the mount by hand. -- Lift the glass panel off the vehicle. Installing: Lay the glass panel on the sunroof opening. Lift one side of the glass panel and press the trim sideways into the mount using a small wedge beginning at the front. Do the same on the opposite side. Install the bolts on the slotted guide rails and tighten slightly. Close the glass panel and adjust with the body contour. Tighten bolts to tightening specification.
  2. Mounting bracket Not a replacement part, part of the glass panel delivery package.
  3. Bolt 4 Nm

Adjust the height at the front and rear according to the illustration to prevent wind noise.

The front of the glass panel must not be higher than the roof and the rear must not be lower than the roof.

Lift off the glass panel and insert a small screwdriver between the trim and the flange in the center at the retainer -arrow- to release the retainer.

Slide the trim toward the rear out of the glass panel mount -1- and pull toward the vehicle center from out of the openings.

  1. Sun shade CAUTION: Do not operate the sun shade when it is removed or it will be damaged and will have to be replaced. The glass panel is removed. The wind deflector is removed. -- Close the sun shade completely toward the rear. -- Remove the threaded connection on the retracting spring. CAUTION: Let the retracting spring retract into the brake slowly. Otherwise it will be damaged and will have to be replaced. -- Open the sun shade forward completely. -- Remove the locking pin. Refer to «LOCKING PIN FOR SUN SHADE»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof__locking-pin-for-sun-shade) . -- Press the sun shade forward off the guides on the sunroof frame. -- Remove the sun shade upward from the frame diagonally.
  2. Bolt Retracting spring mounting bolt. 2 Nm
  3. Bolt 1 Nm
  4. Wind deflector The sunroof panel is removed. -- Remove the left and right bolts on the wind deflector. -- Remove the front clips and the wind deflector from the sun shade.
  5. Bolt 2 Nm
  6. Slider The sun shade is removed. Remove the bolt and remove the slider downward from the shade.
  7. Bolt 2 Nm

LOCKING PIN FOR SUN SHADE

Note. Remove the locking pin before removing the sun shade from the guides.

Remove bolt -1- on the wind deflector -2- and remove the locking pin -3-.

Remove the sun shade from the guides towards the front.

Retracting spring threaded connection

Close the sun shade -3- completely toward the rear.

Remove the bolt -1- and carefully let the retracting spring retract into the brake -2-.

Cable, Replacing

Note. Only replace the cables in pairs.

Remove the glass panel and move the roof into the >>closed<< position.

Remove the motor.

Remove the bolt -1- and slide the cable -3- back out of the guide.

Slide the new cables in and tighten the bolt to 4 Nm.

Note. Lower the headliner just a little but do not remove it. After the sunroof frame is removed, the water drain hose elbows must be replaced, refer to Water Drain Hose Angle Brackets, Replacing. Refer to WATER DRAIN HOSE ANGLE BRACKETS, REPLACING .

  1. Screws 8 Nm Quantity: 4 front and 4 rear
  2. Sunroof frame The glass panel is removed. lower the headliner. -- Remove the front and rear water drain hoses. -- Disconnect the electrical connectors to the motor. -- Remove the front and rear frame bolts except for the center bolts on the left and right. NOTE: The roof is only secured with these two threaded connections before lifting it. -- Remove the bolts to the frame at the front, center and rear angle brackets. -- Loosen the threaded connections to the body on the front and center angle brackets sufficiently. -- The rear angle bracket remains secured firmly to the body. -- Remove the front and center angle brackets from the frame. NOTE: Two assistants are now required to hold the roof before removing both bolts at the front and rear of the frame. -- Remove the front and rear bolts on the frame and carefully remove the rear brackets forward. -- Carefully lift the frame out of the vehicle. Install in reverse order of removal.
  3. Bolt 2.5 Nm
  4. Brake Lower to remove the headliner. Retracting spring brake On the sun shade, remove the retracting spring threaded connection on both sides and slide into the brake. -- Remove the bolts on the retracting spring from below and remove the retracting spring upward.
  5. Seal Self-adhesive -- Clean adhesive surface with Cleaning Solution -D 009 401 04-.
  6. Rear angle bracket
  7. Center angle bracket
  8. Front angle bracket
  9. Bolt 8 Nm
  10. Motor Removing NOTE: Only remove the motor when the glass panel is closed. Removal: -- Interior lights removed. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-coupe) . -- Disconnect the electrical connector to the motor. -- Remove the bolts and remove the motor downward from the headliner opening. NOTE: After installing, perform an adaptation procedure for the motor, refer to «MOTOR, ADAPTING»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof__motor-adapting) .

Headliner lowered.

Retracting spring on sun shade removed.

Remove the bolt -1-, unclip the front side of the brake -2- from the frame and remove it downward.

WATER DRAIN HOSE ANGLE BRACKETS, REPLACING

Remove the water drain hose from the angle bracket -2-.

Remove the angle bracket from the sunroof frame.

  1. Cleaning and Insertion Aid VAS 6620
