Installation

Ensure that lug on lower spring support is inserted into matching hole in trapezoidal link. (Scheme 10) Rotate end of coil spring until it makes contact with lower spring support stop. Install upper spring support to top of spring. Install spring to vehicle. Loosen spring tensioner while maintaining spring position. To finish installation, reverse remaining removal procedure. Torque fasteners to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.

  1. Working under vehicle, remove rear floor pan panels.
  2. On convertible models, remove diagonal brace. If same diagonal brace 1, 5 or 6 are to be reinstalled, with a felt pen mark position of diagonal brace with respect to body and subframe 3. (Scheme 11) Lower vehicle onto wheels. Release bolts 2 and 4. Raise vehicle. Unscrew bolts 2 and 4. Remove diagonal brace 1, 5 and 6.
CAUTIONThe securing bolts for diagonal brace are micro-encapsulated bolts. They must be replaced after removal.
  1. Install diagonal brace. The residues of locking compound must be removed from all tapped holes using a tap.
  2. Position diagonal brace 1, 5 or 6 according to threaded holes or markings on body. (Scheme 11) Install new micro-encapsulated bolts (2) and (4) but do not tighten. Lower vehicle onto wheels and bounce several times. Tighten bolts (2) or (4) to 41 ft. lbs. (55 N.m). Install outer front or rear underbody trims.
