Distinctive features can be

  1. Low window tension.
  2. Wind noise.
  3. Window rattles with convertible top open.
  4. Window runs poorly into roof frame seal.

Check window to see if it is parallel

  1. Close convertible top.
  1. Raise all windows.
  2. Close both doors.
  3. Using a steel ruler, measure gap dimension between door window and side window.
  1. Gap must be parallel, dimension - a - and dimension - b - = 9-10 mm.
  2. Deviation from parallel: 0.5 mm.

Side window height and parallelism, adjusting

  1. Open convertible top.
  2. Remove side panel trim --> «70 - INTERIOR TRIM»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#body-interior) «70 - INTERIOR TRIM»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#body-interior-cabriolet) for BODY INTERIOR - CABRIOLET .
  3. Remove rear seat bench --> «72 - SEAT - FRAMES»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#body-interior) «72 - SEAT - FRAMES»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#body-interior-cabriolet) for BODY INTERIOR - CABRIOLET .
  4. Remove speaker cover and speaker.
  1. Raise all windows.
  2. Loosen nuts - arrows -.
  3. Adjust parallelism or side window height to door window by moving side window.
  4. Tighten nuts.

Side window distance, checking

  1. Open convertible top.
  2. Raise side windows.
  3. Open both doors.
  4. Using a tape measure on inner edge of side windows - arrow - , measure distance of side windows to each other.
  1. Distance - a - = 1169 -1171 mm.

Note. Because this measurement cannot determine symmetry to both windows, the window that is still noticeable after all pre-adjustments is adjusted in case of a deviation from the dimension.

Side window distance, adjusting

  1. Remove side panel trim --> «70 - INTERIOR TRIM»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#body-interior) «70 - INTERIOR TRIM»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#body-interior-cabriolet) for BODY INTERIOR - CABRIOLET .
  2. Remove rear seat bench --> «72 - SEAT - FRAMES»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#body-interior) «72 - SEAT - FRAMES»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#body-interior-cabriolet) for BODY INTERIOR - CABRIOLET .
  3. Remove speaker cover and speaker.
  4. Loosen nut - arrow -.
  1. Adjust window angle with Side Window Installation Tool V.A.G 1739 «Angle, adjusting»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#body-exterior-cabriolet) .

Note. The window regulator - 4 - can be adjusted in the respective - direction of arrow - by turning adjusting screw - 2 - in or out. Turning right: distance is increased. 1 turn corresponds to approx. 2 mm.

  1. Tighten nuts and bolts.

Removing

  1. Disconnect electrical connector.
  2. Loosen bolts - arrows - using Socket Wrench T10010 , slide actuator - 1 - up and remove.

Installing

  1. Before installing actuator, emergency release - 2 - must be slid over the locking pin.
  2. Locking pin of actuator must move cleanly into closed fuel filler flap - 2 -.
  3. Clip in grommets - 1 -.

Note. To remove fuel filler flap, remove bolts - 5 -. Panel gap dimensions Panel gap dimensions .
