1. Front seat removed from the vehicle.

Mount the VAS 6136 on the VAS 6095.

Attach the seat to the VAS 6136.

CONNECTORS, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING

Disconnecting

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Release cover cap -1- in -direction of arrow-.

Remove the wiring bracket -3- upward from the connector station.

Note. The number of connectors may vary depending on equipment.

Disconnect seat operating electrical connector -2-.

Release clip in -direction of arrow- with a small screwdriver and disconnect side airbag electrical connector -1-.

Connect the VAS 6235 to the side airbag electrical connector on the seat. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING .

Note. Ensure airbag adapter engages correctly.

Note. If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K75- indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.

AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING

Airbag connector, disconnecting

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Connect the airbag connector -3- to the airbag adapter connector -4-.

If equipped, connect voltage supply connector for airbag adapter -2- to voltage supply connector for seat connector -2-.

CONNECTORS, DISCONNECTING

Loosen seat mounting bolts. Refer to SEAT .

Tip front seat back.

Release cover cap -1- in -direction of arrow-.

Remove wiring bracket -3-.

Release clip in -direction of arrow- with a small screwdriver and disconnect electrical connector -1- with side airbag terminal resistance.

Note. The terminal resistance for the side airbag is a component of the wiring harness.

Press in tab on connector for heated seat -2- on tunnel side and disconnect connector for heated seat.

Country versions of seat belt fasten sensor: Press the tab on the seat belt fasten sensor connector on the tunnel side and disconnect the seat belt fasten sensor connector.

When operating one of the two backrest lock release levers, release pins on left and right of seat frame must be operated at the same time.

1. The actuating links must engage the release pins on the backrest hinge as far as stop.
2. The actuating links must then be relieved.

FRONT SEAT, INSTALLING ON VAS 6136

Special tools and workshop equipment required

1. Front seat removed from the vehicle.

Mount the VAS 6136 on the VAS 6095.

Attach the seat to the VAS 6136.

FRONT MANUAL SEAT

Removing

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Bring headrest into lowest lock position.

Pull the handle for the forward/back adjustment -2- and move the seat -4- all the way back.

Scheme 46

Remove the front screws -1- and -3-.

Pull the handle for the seat forward/back adjustment and move the seat all the way forward.

Remove the rear screws -5- and -6-.

Tip seat backward.

Disconnect the electrical connectors at the connector station in the floor. Refer to CONNECTORS, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

Connect the VAS 6235 to the side airbag electrical connector on the seat. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING .

Raise the seat with a 2nd technician and remove it from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Remove VAS 6235 only after installing seat. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING .

Note. Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

Connect the connector to the couplings on the connector station in the floor. Refer to CONNECTORS, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Note. If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K75- indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.

SEAT RAIL COVERS

Removing

Remove the front seat bolts

1. Front seat (mechanically adjustable), refer to «FRONT MANUAL SEAT»(ref-496057-S35256894542012082100000)
2. Power front seat, refer to «POWER SEAT»(ref-496057-S40242894112012082100000)

Note. The electrical connectors for the front seat must not be loosened.

Front Seat Rail Cover

Tilt the seat as far as possible to the back.

Carefully lift the securing clip -2- -arrow A-.

Remove the seat rail cover -3- from the seat rail guide -1- -arrow B-.

Rear Seat Rail Cover

Tilt the seat as far as possible forward.

Carefully press the safety clip -1- down.

Remove the seat rail cover -3- from the seat rail guide -2- -arrow-.

Installation

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.

BACKREST ADJUSTING WHEEL

Removing

Turn the backrest adjustment wheel -1- until a locking mechanism is visible from behind -arrow A-. It may be necessary to use a flashlight.

Hook in 3399 -item 2- and pry in -direction of arrow B-.

Turn backrest adjustment wheel -1- about 120° more.

Hook in 3399 -item 2- again and pry in -direction of arrow B-.

Remove backrest adjustment wheel -1-.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Hand wheel must be pressed on until it audibly engages.

Note. If the hand wheel for backrest adjustment sits loosely on the adjustment shaft, the hand wheel for backrest adjustment must be replaced.

SILL SIDE TRIM

Removing

Remove backrest adjustment wheel. Refer to BACKREST ADJUSTING WHEEL .

Remove seat height adjustment handle. Refer to SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT HANDLE .

Open the storage compartment -1-.

Push the stop for the opening -3- to the side and move the storage compartment all the way down.

Disconnect the storage compartment pivot, while doing this, carefully push the bracket -2- slightly to the side -arrow A-.

Pull the storage compartment forward and out -arrow B-.

Remove the bolts -2- and -3- on the side trim on the door sill side.

Note. Ignore -item 1- and the -arrows-.

Remove the backrest cover -1- on the trim -2- -arrow-.

Remove expanding clip -1-, press clamping pin through to the inside.

Scheme 54

Open the clips -3- -arrow A-.

If applicable, disconnect the lumbar support electrical connector.

Installation

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.

SILL SIDE TRIM RETAINING BRACKET

Removing

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Remove front seat. Refer to FRONT MANUAL SEAT .

Remove the storage compartment bracket. Refer to STORAGE COMPARTMENT WITH BRACKET .

Remove side trim on sill side. Refer to SILL SIDE TRIM .

Remove bolts -1- and -2-.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Removing

Bring seat as far up as possible.

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Remove front seat

1. Manual seat, refer to «FRONT MANUAL SEAT»(ref-496057-S35256894542012082100000)
2. Power seat, refer to «POWER SEAT»(ref-496057-S40242894112012082100000)

Secure the seat on the VAS 6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, INSTALLING ON VAS 6136 .

Move the seat rail all the way to the front so that the bolt for the seat belt latch is accessible.

If applicable, free up the electrical wire -2-.

Remove the seat belt latch -1-.

Note. The electrical wire remains connected.

Unclip backrest cover -4-.

Remove expanding clip -3-, press clamping pin through to the inside.

Remove the bolt -2-.

Installation

BACKREST COVER

Release the spring clamps for the backrest cover -1- using the 80 - 200 up to the first retainer -arrows A-.

Note. The spring clamps (with hooks) can be removed only up to the first retainer.

In order to remove the spring clamps (with hooks) -2-, push the backrest cover in -direction of arrow B-.

Pull the backrest cover -1- upward slightly and then swivel it to the rear -arrows-.

Scheme 60

1. When doing this, the guide tabs -2- and -3- are disconnected from the backrest frame.

Remove backrest cover.

Installation

BACKREST

Removing

Remove front seat. Refer to FRONT MANUAL SEAT .

Secure the seat on the VAS 6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, INSTALLING ON VAS 6136 .

Remove side trim on sill side. Refer to SILL SIDE TRIM .

Remove side trim on tunnel side. Refer to TUNNEL SIDE TRIM .

Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to BACKREST COVER .

Scheme 63

Disconnect the rubber strap -2- on the cloth strip -1- on the seat pan.

Disconnect the left and right rubber straps -1- and -2-.

Scheme 64

Where applicable, disconnect the electrical connector for the seat heating.

If applicable, connect the VAS 6281 -item 2- to the side airbag electrical connector -1-.

Scheme 65

Free up the electrical wiring harness on the seat pan.

Remove the left and right bolts -arrows-.

Scheme 66

Tip backrest -1- forward onto seat pan -2-.

Press the upholstery to the side and carefully remove the side airbag wire and, if necessary, all additional wires (depending on optional equipment) on the seat pan.

Remove backrest.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Threaded bolt holes -arrows- must always be cleaned (for example, with thread cutter).

Replace the bolts each time they are removed.

Note. Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

SPRING MAT

Note. Removal and installation is the same on the driver and passenger seat.

Removing

Remove front seat. Refer to FRONT MANUAL SEAT .

Secure the seat on the VAS 6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, INSTALLING ON VAS 6136 .

Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to BACKREST COVER .

Remove cover with upholstery. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND UPHOLSTERY .

Disengage the pull-springs -3- on the backrest frame -1-.

Scheme 67

Note. The pull-springs -3- can also stay engaged in the backrest frame -1- and the spring mat -2- can be disengaged directly at the pull-springs.

Remove the left and right spacers on the back side.

Scheme 68

Swivel the spring mat -1- upward -arrow-, when doing this, the spring mat will be pushed out of the clips -2-.

Remove the spring mat form the backrest frame -1-.

Installation

Make sure the correct pull-spring (number of coils) is engaged at the location determined.

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following

Remove the rear rivet -2- on the backrest frame -1-.

Remove the side rivets -6- on the backrest frame.

Disconnect the bracket -3- for the four-way lumbar support -4- with the upper clips -2- from the backrest frame.

Disconnect the electrical connectors to the motors -1- and -5- for the lumbar support adjustment.

Remove the four-way lumbar support.

Installation

Before securing rivet -4-, a plastic washer -2- must be placed between four-way lumbar support -1- and backrest frame -3-.

Removing

Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to BACKREST COVER .

Pry out peripheral fastening strips with a screwdriver.

Insert foil between upholstery and backrest frame to protect against metal particles.

Drill out rivet -1-.

Disconnect the frame for the upper left and right four-way lumbar support -5- on the springs -arrows-.

Disconnect the electrical connectors -2- and -6- on the motors for the lumbar support adjustment.

Disconnect Velcro connector between four-way lumber support -3- and backrest upholstery -4-.

Remove four-way lumbar support.

Installation

Lay plastic film -1- over Velcro strips -2- on four-way lumbar support. Secure the plastic sheet on the four-way lumbar support.

Make sure the four-way lumbar support is attached to four-way lumbar support frame with assembly fastener -3- or a suitable pin.

Position lumbar support frame behind backrest and engage lumbar support frame at top left and right in mounts on frame.

Rivet the lower frame for the four-way lumbar support to the backrest frame.

Before securing rivet -4-, a plastic washer -1- must be placed between four-way lumbar support -2- and backrest frame -3-.

Remove plastic film between backrest padding and four-way lumbar support.

Press four-way lumbar support Velcro fastener onto backrest padding to secure.

Connect electrical connectors to lumbar support adjustment motors.

Removing

Remove the seat. Refer to FRONT MANUAL SEAT .

Secure the seat on the VAS 6136.

Open the storage compartment -1-.

Push the opening stop -3- to the side and open the storage compartment all the way.

Disconnect the storage compartment pivot, while doing this, carefully push the bracket -2- slightly to the side -arrow A-.

Pull the storage compartment forward and out -arrow B-.

Remove the bolts -2- and -3- on the side trim on the door sill side.

Remove the bolts -arrows- and the bracket -1-.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

POWER SEAT

Removing

Bring headrest into lowest lock position.

Operate the seat forward/back adjustment and move the seat -4- all the way to the rear.

Remove the front screws -1- and -3-.

Operate seat fore and aft adjustment and guide seat as far forward as possible.

Remove the rear screws -5- and -6-.

Note. Ignore -2-.

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .

Disconnect the electrical connectors at the connector station in the floor. Refer to CONNECTORS, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

Connect the VAS 6235 to the side airbag electrical connector on the seat. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING .

Raise the seat with a 2nd technician and remove it from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following

Removing and installing for the mechanically adjustable front seat. Removing and installing a power front seat is identical.

Note. The sill side trim panel can only be removed and installed with the seat installed. Removal and installation is the same on the driver and passenger seat.

Removing

Bring seat as far up as possible.

Remove the backrest cover -1- on the trim -2- -arrow-.

Remove expanding clip -3-, press clamping pin through to the inside.

Open the clips -1- -arrow A-.

Pull the trim -2- as far up from the retaining bracket -arrows B-, as the electrical wires allow.

Disconnect the electrical connector -3- on the lumbar support adjustment switch -2-.

Removing

Remove front seat. Refer to POWER SEAT .

Secure the seat on the VAS 6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, INSTALLING ON VAS 6136 .

Remove side trim on sill side. Refer to SILL SIDE TRIM .

Remove side trim on tunnel side. Refer to TUNNEL SIDE TRIM .

Disconnect the rubber strap -2- on the cloth strip -1- on the seat pan.

Disconnect the left and right rubber straps -1- and -2-.

Where applicable, disconnect the electrical connector for the seat heating.

If applicable, connect the VAS 6281 -item 2- to the side airbag electrical connector -1-.

Free up the electrical wiring harness on the seat pan.

Remove the left and right bolts -arrows-.

Remove the bracket -3- on the outer side of the backrest.

Tip backrest -2- forward onto seat pan -1-.

Press the upholstery to the side and carefully remove the side airbag wire and, if necessary, all additional wires (depending on optional equipment) on the seat pan.

Remove backrest.

Installation

Removing

Remove the seat height adjustment motor. Refer to SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT MOTOR .

Using 3409, unclip plastic toothed segment -2- from fitting -1-.

Installation

Clip plastic toothed segment -2- into fitting -1-.

Make sure the clip -arrow A- and plastic toothed segment collar and the locking pins -B arrows- are inserted correctly in the holes on the fitting -1-.

Make sure the plastic toothed segment is clipped to the fitting correctly.

1. The plastic toothed segment collar -arrow C- must lie evenly on the fitting.

Make sure the locking pins -A arrows- are inserted correctly in the holes -B arrows- on the link plate -1-.
