Note. For setup, customization, and other available features, refer to the ED-18 user's manual.
- Connect the leads to the positive and negative battery terminals.
- Use the arrow keys to select the Battery test and press ENTER, then follow the prompts. NOTE: Make sure to enter the correct cold cranking ampere (CCA) rating of the battery. You can find the CCA printed on the label on the top of the battery. If the CCA rating is not entered correctly, the test result will not be accurate. Make sure to select FLOODED for the battery type.
- Here are the four possible battery conditions: GOOD BATTERY: The battery has at least 60 percent of its charge and is in a good state of health. No action is required. GR8 DIAGNOSTIC TEST NEEDED: The battery voltage is low. Connect the GR8 and use the diagnostic test to determine if the battery is GOOD or needs to be REPLACED. REPLACE BATTERY: The battery condition is poor. Replace it. BAD CELL: There is a problem with the battery. Replace it.
Note. For setup, customization, and other available features, refer to the GR8 user's manual. On the GR8, you can select two modes: DEALER INVENTORY or CLIENT VEHICLE. DEALER INVENTORY: Use this mode for vehicles in dealer inventory. The GR8 charges the battery to 80% of its state-of-charge. If the battery condition is OK, the GR8 states the battery is GOOD. If you leave the GR8 attached to the battery, it changes to Top Off mode, and continues to charge the battery until it is at 100% of its state-of-charge. CLIENT VEHICLE: In order to give a waiting client quicker service, the GR8 charges the battery to 60% of its state-of-charge. If the battery condition is OK, the GR8 states the battery is GOOD. If you leave the GR8 attached to the battery, it changes to Top Off mode, and continues to charge the battery until it is at 100% of its state-of-charge.
- Connect the leads to the positive and negative terminal of the battery.
- Use the arrow keys to select Diagnostic, and follow the prompts. NOTE: Make sure to enter the correct cold cranking ampere (CCA) rating of the battery. You can find the CCA printed on the label on the top of the battery. If the CCA rating is not entered correctly, the test result will not be accurate. Make sure you select FLOODED for the battery type.
- Here are the three possible battery conditions: GOOD BATTERY: The battery state of health is good and state of charge is at least 60%. REPLACE BATTERY: The battery condition is poor. Replace it. BAD CELL: There is a problem with the battery-Replace it.
Disconnection
Note. Some systems store data in memory (including seat position, mirror position, etc) that is lost when the battery is disconnected. Do the following procedures before disconnecting the battery.
- Make sure to have the anti-theft code for the audio system or the audio-navigation unit.
- Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0), or the vehicle ignition in the OFF mode.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery. NOTE: Always disconnect the negative cable from the battery first.
- Disconnect the positive cable from the battery.
Reconnection
Note. Some systems store data in memory (including seat position, mirror position, etc) that is lost when the battery is disconnected. Do the following procedures to restore the systems back to normal operation.
Scheme 1221
- Clean the battery terminals.
- Test the battery (see «BATTERY TEST»(/acura/zdx/i-2009-2013/remont/body-electrical/#battery) ).
- Reconnect the positive cable (A) to the battery (B) first, then reconnect the negative cable (C) to the battery. NOTE: Always connect the positive cable to the battery first.

- Do the steering column position memorization (see «STEERING COLUMN POSITION MEMORIZATION»(/acura/zdx/i-2009-2013/remont/manual-power-steering/#power-steering-system__steering-column-position-memorization) ).
- Enter the anti-theft code for the audio system or the audio-navigation unit.
- Set the clock (for vehicles without navigation).
Note. The battery terminal disconnection and reconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ) must be done before and after doing this procedure. Some systems store data in the memory that is lost when the battery is disconnected.
Scheme 1222
- Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see «BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION»(/acura/zdx/i-2009-2013/remont/body-electrical/#battery) ).

Scheme 1223
- Install the battery (A), then install the battery setting plate (B).
- Tighten the two nuts (C) equally until the battery is stable. NOTE: Do not deform the battery setting plate by over-tightening the nuts.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see «BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION»(/acura/zdx/i-2009-2013/remont/body-electrical/#battery) ). NOTE: Make sure the battery is correctly installed, and that the positive terminal and the negative terminal are not connected in reverse.
