Front Inner Fender Replacement

Note. Take care not to scratch the body.

Scheme 20: Front Inner Fender Replacement
  1. Remove the front inner fender (A). -1 Remove the screws (B), then remove the front splash guard (C). -2 Remove the bolts (D) securing the front bumper (E) and front inner fender. -3 Remove the clips (F, G) securing the front inner fender (and splash shield (H)) on the body. -4 Remove the front inner fender.
  2. Install the inner fender in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check the clips for damage or stress-whitening, and replace them with new one. Push the clips into place securely.

  1. Remove the front inner fender as necessary (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ).
  2. Open the front door. From inside the door, remove the clips securing the front fender fairing (A).
  3. From the wheel arch, release the clip, then remove the front fender fairing (A).
  4. Install the fender fairing in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check the clips for damage or stress-whitening, and replace them with new one. Push the clips into place securely.

Rear Fender Cover Replacement

Note. Take care not to scratch the rear fender cover and body.

Scheme 23: Rear Fender Cover Replacement
  1. Remove the rear wheel (see step 1 in «KNUCKLE/HUB/WHEEL BEARING REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/suspension-rear/#rear-suspension) ).
  2. Remove the rear fender cover (A). -1 Remove the screws (B), then remove the splash guard (C). -2 Remove the screws (D) securing the rear bumper (E) and rear fender cover. -3 Remove the bolts (F), and clips (G), then remove the rear fender cover.
  3. Install the rear fender cover in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check the clips for damage or stress-whitening, and replace them with new one. Push the clips into place securely.

Scheme 24: Fenderwell Trim Replacement
  1. Remove the fenderwell trim (A) by pulling it out. NOTE: The steel core (B) in the fenderwell trim cannot be restored to its original shape once it is bent. Replace the fenderwell trim when the steel core is bent.
  2. Clean the body bonding surface with a sponge dampened in alcohol. After cleaning, keep oil, grease and water from getting on the clean surface.
  3. Apply clear sealant (C) into the channel of the fenderwell trim from end to end. Sealant: Cemedines P/N 08712-0004, or equivalent
  4. Install the fenderwell trim.
  5. Scrape or wipe the excess sealant off with a towel. To remove sealant from a painted surface, wipe with a soft shop towel dampened in alcohol.

Scheme 25: Rear Air Outlet Replacement
  1. Remove the rear bumper, '03 model (see «'03 MODEL»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers) ), '04-06 models (see «'04-06 MODELS»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers) ).
  2. Detach the hooks (A), then remove the rear air outlet (B). Take care not to scratch the body. NOTE: '03-04 models have an outlet on the driver's side. '06 model has an outlet on both sides of the vehicle.
  3. Install the rear air outlet in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 26: Left Front Splash Guard Reinforcement Replacement
  1. Remove these items: Left front splash guard (see «SIDE SILL PANEL REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim) ) Left inner fender, as necessary (see «SIDE SILL PANEL REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim) ) Left side sill panel (see «SIDE SILL PANEL REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim) )
  2. Remove the bolts, then remove the left front splash guard reinforcement (A). Take care not to scratch the body.
  3. Install the reinforcement in the reverse order of removal.
