  1. Remove the support strut from each side of the hood (see «HOOD SUPPORT STRUT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) ).
  2. Slightly loosen each hood hinge bolt.
  3. Adjust the hood alignment in this sequence. Adjust the hood right and left, as well as forward and rearward, by using the elongated holes on the hood hinge (A). Turn the hood edge cushions (B), as necessary, to make the hood fit flush with the body at front and side edges.
  4. Adjust the hood latch (C) to obtain the proper height at the forward edge, and move the hood latch right or left until the striker (D) is centered in the hood latch.
  5. Tighten the bolts securely.
  6. Install the support strut on each side of the hood.
  7. Check that the hood opens properly and locks securely.
  8. Apply touch-up paint to the hinge mounting bolts and around the hinges.
  9. Apply multipurpose grease to the locations of the hood latch and hood hinge indicated by the arrows (Scheme 7)

  1. With the help of an assistant, use a flat-tip screwdriver (A) to pry the support strut clips (B) of the support strut (C) on the hood and body, then release the support strut from the pivot bolts (D). Do not remove the clips from the support strut.
  2. Remove the bolts, then remove the pivot bracket (A).
  3. Reinstall the pivot brackets.
  4. Set the clips (A) to the original position, then reattach the support strut (B) on the pivot bolts (C) by pushing on the support strut.

Scheme 11: Hood Insulator Replacement
  1. Using a clip remover, detach the clips, then release the hood insulator (A) from the hooks (B). Take care not to bend the insulator and not to scratch the hood.
  2. Install the insulator in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check the clip(s) for damage or stress-whitened, and replace them with new one(s). Push the clips into place securely.

Scheme 12: Hood Seal and Hood Molding Replacement
  1. Using a clip remover, detach the clips (A), then remove the hood seal (B). On Canadian models, detach the clips (C), then remove the hood molding (D). Take care not to scratch the hood.
  2. Install the hood seal and molding in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check the clip(s) for damage or stress-whitened, and replace them with new one(s). Push the clips into place securely.
