Removal and Installation

SRS component locations for the appropriate year

Scheme 68: Removal
  1. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the radio presets.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable, then disconnect the positive cable, and wait at least 3 minutes.
  3. Driver's fuse box: Remove the left kick panel and dashboard lower cover (see «DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard) ). Passenger's fuse box: Remove the right kick panel and glove box (see «DASHBOARD CENTER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard) ).
  4. Remove the mounting bolt or nut, and pull the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box (A) or passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box (B) away from the body.
  5. Disconnect the driver's or passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors, and remove the driver's or passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box. NOTE: The SRS main harness connector is a spring-loaded lock type (see «SPRING-LOADED LOCK CONNECTOR»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/airbag/#srs-supplemental-restraint-system__spring-loaded-lock-connector) ).

Installation

  1. Connect the connectors to the driver's or passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box, then install the driver's or passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box in the reverse order of removal.
  2. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
  3. Connect both the negative cable and positive cable to the battery, enter the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, then enter the customer's radio presets.
  4. Do the powertrain control module (PCM) idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/testing-diagnostics/#idle-control-system__pcm-idle-learn-procedure) ) and the power window control unit reset procedure (see «RESETTING THE POWER WINDOW CONTROL UNIT»(/acura/mdx/i-2000-2006/remont/windows/#power-windows) ).
  5. Confirm that all systems work properly.
