REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Scheme 1
Drain the fuel injection system. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
Remove the charge air pipe over the engine. Seal the openings.
Remove the cover over the fuel rail.

Remove the boost pressure sensor which is on the pipe coming from the charge air cooler (CAC).

REMOVAL OF UPPER ENGINE COVER OVER CYLINDER 2, 4, 6 AND 8 (BANK 2)
Remove the upper engine cover over cylinder 2, 4, 6 and 8 (bank 2) by pulling it straight up.

- the hose clip on the vacuum hose (1)
- the vacuum hose (1).

Remove
- the connector for fuel pressure and temperature sensor
- the screw
- fuel pressure and temperature sensor.
Note. For tightening torques, see: TIGHTENING TORQUE .
INSTALLATION OF FUEL PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Install
- fuel pressure and temperature sensor
- the screw; tighten
- the connector for fuel pressure and temperature sensor
INSTALLATION OF UPPER ENGINE COVER OVER CYLINDER 2, 4, 6 AND 8 (BANK 2)
Install the upper engine cover over cylinder 2, 4, 6 and 8 (bank 2)
INSTALLATION OF PRESSURE SENSOR INLET AIR
Install
- a new sensor
- the 2 screws; tighten
- the connector to the sensor.
REMOVAL OF UPPER ENGINE COVER OVER CYLINDER 1, 3, 5 AND 7 (BANK 1)
Remove
- the oil filler cap
- upper engine cover over cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1) by pulling it straight up. Install the oil filler cap.

Remove
- the 2 screws
- the air cleaner intake pipe
- the expansion tank cap.
Scheme 6
Note. There is a guide sleeve on the upper mounting for the plate. This must be lifted slightly so that the panel can be slid forward.
Remove the 6 screws.
Lift and slide the protective plate forward.
Remove the protective plate.
INSTALLATION OF UPPER ENGINE COVER OVER CYLINDER 1, 3, 5 AND 7 (BANK 1)
Remove the oil filler cap.
Install
- upper engine cover over cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1)
- the oil filler cap.
INSTALLATION OF POSITION SENSOR, CYLINDER 1, 3, 5 AND 7 (BANK 1)
Note. For tightening torques, see: TIGHTENING TORQUE .
Install
- the position sensor; tighten the screw
- the connector for the position sensor
- the upper coolant hose in its mounting.
INSTALLATION OF POSITION SENSOR, CYLINDER 2, 4, 6 AND 8 (BANK 2)

Install
- the position sensor; tighten the screw
- the connector for the position sensor
- the heat shield of the position sensor; tighten the screw.
INSTALLATION OF IGNITION COILS, CYLINDER 1, 3, 5 AND 7 (BANK 1)
Install
- the 4 ignition coils of the cylinders
- the 4 screws of the ignition coils; tighten
- the 4 connectors to the ignition coils.
INSTALLATION OF IGNITION COILS, CYLINDER 2, 4, 6 AND 8 (BANK 2)
Install
- the 4 ignition coils of the cylinders
- the 4 screws of the ignition coils
- the 4 connectors to the ignition coils
- the 2 screws of the cable harness
- the retaining screw of the upper engine cover.
