REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Scheme 1

Drain the fuel injection system. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .

Remove the charge air pipe over the engine. Seal the openings.

Remove the cover over the fuel rail.

Scheme 2

Remove the boost pressure sensor which is on the pipe coming from the charge air cooler (CAC).

REMOVAL OF UPPER ENGINE COVER OVER CYLINDER 2, 4, 6 AND 8 (BANK 2)

Remove the upper engine cover over cylinder 2, 4, 6 and 8 (bank 2) by pulling it straight up.

Scheme 3

Remove

1. the hose clip on the vacuum hose (1)
2. the vacuum hose (1).

Scheme 4

Remove

1. the connector for fuel pressure and temperature sensor
2. the screw
3. fuel pressure and temperature sensor.

Note. For tightening torques, see: TIGHTENING TORQUE .

INSTALLATION OF FUEL PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Install

1. fuel pressure and temperature sensor
2. the screw; tighten
3. the connector for fuel pressure and temperature sensor

INSTALLATION OF UPPER ENGINE COVER OVER CYLINDER 2, 4, 6 AND 8 (BANK 2)

Install the upper engine cover over cylinder 2, 4, 6 and 8 (bank 2)

INSTALLATION OF PRESSURE SENSOR INLET AIR

Install

1. a new sensor
2. the 2 screws; tighten
3. the connector to the sensor.

REMOVAL OF UPPER ENGINE COVER OVER CYLINDER 1, 3, 5 AND 7 (BANK 1)

Remove

1. the oil filler cap
2. upper engine cover over cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1) by pulling it straight up. Install the oil filler cap.

Scheme 5

Remove

1. the 2 screws
2. the air cleaner intake pipe
3. the expansion tank cap.

Scheme 6

Note. There is a guide sleeve on the upper mounting for the plate. This must be lifted slightly so that the panel can be slid forward.

Remove the 6 screws.

Lift and slide the protective plate forward.

Remove the protective plate.

INSTALLATION OF UPPER ENGINE COVER OVER CYLINDER 1, 3, 5 AND 7 (BANK 1)

Remove the oil filler cap.

Install

1. upper engine cover over cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1)
2. the oil filler cap.

INSTALLATION OF POSITION SENSOR, CYLINDER 1, 3, 5 AND 7 (BANK 1)

Note. For tightening torques, see: TIGHTENING TORQUE .

Install

1. the position sensor; tighten the screw
2. the connector for the position sensor
3. the upper coolant hose in its mounting.

INSTALLATION OF POSITION SENSOR, CYLINDER 2, 4, 6 AND 8 (BANK 2)

Note. For tightening torques, see: TIGHTENING TORQUE .

Install

1. the position sensor; tighten the screw
2. the connector for the position sensor
3. the heat shield of the position sensor; tighten the screw.

INSTALLATION OF IGNITION COILS, CYLINDER 1, 3, 5 AND 7 (BANK 1)

Install

1. the 4 ignition coils of the cylinders
2. the 4 screws of the ignition coils; tighten
3. the 4 connectors to the ignition coils.

INSTALLATION OF IGNITION COILS, CYLINDER 2, 4, 6 AND 8 (BANK 2)

Install

1. the 4 ignition coils of the cylinders
2. the 4 screws of the ignition coils
3. the 4 connectors to the ignition coils
4. the 2 screws of the cable harness
5. the retaining screw of the upper engine cover.
