Cleaning and lubricating the input shaft

The input shaft must be lubricated before a manual transmission is installed. See Input shaft, cleaning .

Check that the transmission and engine mating surfaces are absolutely clean.

Also check that the guide sleeves towards the engine are in position and are free of faults.

Lubricate the holes in the gearbox (for the guide pins). Use a little grease.

Adjust height and angle with the mobile jack and the gearbox fixture.

Locate the gearbox on the engine.

Ensure that the gearbox goes straight in, in relation to the engine, and that no deviation occurs in the clutch driven plate center.

Install the screws for the gearbox and engine. Tighten the two larger screws. Tighten to 50 Nm . Tighten the two smaller screws. Tighten to 25 Nm .

Remove the fixture from the gearbox.

Install

  1. the screw for the gearbox and engine. Tighten to 25 Nm
  2. the clamp with the wiring and the screw. Tighten to 10 Nm .

Checking the gearbox fluid level

Top up the oil in the transmission if necessary. See Checking the oil level .

Applies only to cars with parking heaters

Install

  1. the parking heater and the screws. Tighten to 25 Nm
  2. the fuel line in the clips on the subframe
  3. the screw in the cable conduit
  4. the front splash guard
  5. the splash guard under the engine.

Install the nuts for the left wing liner and damping protection.

Rivet the wing liner into place.

Install the wheels. See Installing wheels .
