Engine Control - Design and Function (644 Body): Other Volvo S40 I рестайлинг

Miscellaneous

The control module will also store a code which indicates the most recent cause for cruise control disengagement. The code can be stored in the control module's memory only as long as the ignition is turned on.

General

Information about faults and other information can be read off using the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) connected to the data link connector (DLC).

The Volvo Scan Tool (ST) communicates with the cruise control using a standard communications interface.

The data link connector (DLC) is located on the left of the center console under the dashboard.

The Volvo Scan Tool (ST) can be used to

  1. Read and erase the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
  2. Check input signals to the control module.
  3. Read out the last reason that the cruise control was disengaged.

Activating Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system

  1. Ignition ON
  2. normal battery voltage.

This test mode displays the last reason the cruise control was disengaged.

This test mode can be used when the cruise control has been disengaged even though the driver has not activated any of the system's components. The code stored will only remain in the memory until the ignition is turned off or the next time the cruise control is disengaged.

Note that the code is not identified as a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) because a code is stored even when the system is disengaged normally, for example when braking.

Note. If the engine is turned off after a test drive the response code 2-1-4 will always be posted when the ignition is turned on even if there is no actual fault.

The following reasons for cruise control disengagement give these codes

  1. safety disengagement
  2. gear selector in P or N
  3. selector switch is set to OFF
  4. brake valve activated
  5. clutch valve activated
  6. brake light switch activated
  7. supply voltage too low.
