Activating the ROPS system
The ROPS system has a transit safety catch. The ROPS system is activated using the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) .
Proceed according to the table below.
| (VST) Menu | Select |
|---|---|
| Language | SV/EN/US etc. |
| Model | C70 |
| Area | Body |

| Un set Trans: Fuse |
The ROPS lamp must go out in the combined instrument panel when the activation of the ROPS system is complete.
Activation of the ROPS system is compete.
Reading off input and output signals
Using this function, the values and status of the control module input and output signals can be read off.
The following parameters can be read off
- generator (GEN) voltage, D+ status.
- battery voltage.
- energy reserve.
For further information about parameters, see ROPS/SRS scrolling values, Volvo Scan Tool (ST) .
Igniter cable
The igniter cable, which is of a pyrotechnical type, is routed in the back of the seat and under the seat cushion.
The igniter cable consists of two hoses that are coated with a pyrotechnical material on the inside. On detonation the signal is effected as a detonation wave.
The outside of the hoses are coated with a common, black protective sheath, which protects the hoses against mechanical damage.
Scheme 270
The cushion module is placed on the backrest frame to contribute to protect where the driver's/passenger's chest is closest to the door's inner panel.
Cushion
The cushion, which is manufactured of silicone coated polyamide fabric , is folded under a cover. When inflated the cushion has a volume of approximately 12 litres.
Gas generators
Two gas generators are used to inflate the cushion. On activation the gas generators produce a harmless gas that inflates the cushion very quickly.
General
ROPS = Roll Over Protection System.
The ROPS control module has an on-board diagnostic (OBD) system, the Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system, to provide self diagnostic and other information. This can be read off on the VIDA PC connected to the data link connector (DLC) via VCT 2000.
When the ignition is switched on (ignition position I or engine running) the ROPS on-board diagnostic (OBD) system carries out an initial self test. After that, the ROPS on-board diagnostic (OBD) system goes into monitoring mode, carrying out a continuous self test on the system. Continuous self-test on the system. The control module checks for internal faults in all ignition cable outputs and in the output for the ROPS indicator lamp in the combined instrument panel.
Using this function the values and status of the control module input and output signals can be read off.
The following parameters can be read off
- generator (GEN) voltage D+, status.
- battery voltage.
- energy reserve.
