1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY Inspection procedure when applying voltage between the terminals: Disconnect the connector from the intake air control valve. Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 (-) and 2 (+) of the intake air control valve. Check that a clicking sound is heard from the intake air control valve. If the result is not as specified, replace the intake air surge tank.

1. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET (See «REMOVAL»(ref-282118-S19305882932008032900000) )
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the 3 vacuum hoses. Loosen the bolt, disconnect the 2 connectors, and remove the 2 vacuum hoses. Remove the 2 bolts, air cleaner cap sub-assembly, and air cleaner filter element.
3. REMOVE NO. 3 INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 3 intake air control valve assembly.

1. INSPECT NO. 3 INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Inspect actuator operation. With 26.7 kPa (200 mm Hg, 7.9 in. Hg) of vacuum applied to the actuator, check that the actuator rod moves. One minute after applying the vacuum, check that the actuator rod does not return. If the operation is not as specified, replace the No. 3 intake air control valve.
