INSTALLATION
- INSTALL NO. 3 INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Engage the 2 claws and install the No. 3 intake air control valve assembly.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the air cleaner filter element, and air cleaner cap sub-assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.0 N*m (50 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) Connect the 3 vacuum hoses. Tighten the bolt, connect the 2 connectors, and install the 2 vacuum hoses.

- INSPECT AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Check that air flows from port B to port A. Apply 60 kPa (450 mm Hg, 18 in. Hg) of vacuum to port B. Check that there is no change of vacuum after one minute.

- REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY Remove the 2 vacuum hoses and vacuum switching valve connector. Remove the screw and vacuum switching valve.

- INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY Inspect VSV operation. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART Terminals Condition Specified Condition 1-2 20°C (68°F) 37 to 44 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV. Inspect the VSV for ground. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART Terminals Condition Specified Condition 1 - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 10 kohms or higher 2 - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 10 kohms or higher If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV. Inspect VSV operation. Check that air flows from port E to the filter. Apply battery voltage across the terminals. Check that air flows from port E to port F. If operation is not as specified, replace the VSV.
- INSTALL VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY Install the vacuum switching valve with the screw. Install the 2 vacuum hoses and vacuum switching valve connector.
