INSTALLATION
- INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY Install a new gasket to the intake manifold. Install the fuel tube bracket with the bolt. Install the throttle body (with the fuel tube bracket) with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle position sensor and control motor connector. Connect the fuel tube to the clamp. Connect the No. 2 water by-pass hose to the throttle body. Connect the water by-pass hose to the throttle body.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY See step 3
- ADD ENGINE COOLANT .Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 3»(ref-493447-S27817726442012081000000)
- INSPECT FOR COOLANT OIL LEAK
- INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Align the 3 engine cover grommets with the 3 pins, and press down on the engine cover to install it.
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: Be sure to perform this procedure after reassembling the throttle body assembly or removing and reinstalling any throttle body component. Perform the following procedure after replacing the ECM, throttle body assembly or any throttle body components. The following procedure should also be performed if the throttle body is cleaned. Be sure to perform this procedure after reconnecting the battery cable or replacing the ECM. Disconnect the EFI fuse and ETCS fuse at the same time. Wait at least 60 seconds and reconnect the fuses. Turn the ignition switch to ON without operating the accelerator pedal. NOTE: If the accelerator pedal is operated, perform the above steps again. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs.Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-493432-S34411502992012081000000) . Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated. After the engine is warmed up, check that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off. Standard Condition Engine Idle Speed A/C switched off 600 to 700 rpm NOTE: Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off. Make sure that the shift lever is in N or P. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Data List / All Data / Throttle Sensor Position. Sensor Output. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.

- PRECAUTION NOTE: After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.Refer to «PRECAUTION»(ref-493289-S42810490842012081000000) .
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector. Disconnect the purge VSV connector. Disconnect the 4 wire harness clamps. Disconnect the 2 purge line hoses. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose from the air cleaner hose. Disconnect the purge line hose from the clamp. Lock the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp, and then disconnect the No. 1 air cleaner hose from the throttle body. Detach the 2 hook clamps, and then remove the air cleaner cap. Remove the air cleaner filter element from the air cleaner case.
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE Disconnect the harness clamp. Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner case.
- REMOVE ECM Remove the 3 bolts of the ECM with bracket. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: After disconnecting the connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter does not contact the connector. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the 2 levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. Remove the ECM with bracket. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets.

- INSTALL ECM Install the 2 brackets to the ECM with the 4 screws. Connect the 2 ECM connectors and lower the 2 levers. NOTE: When connecting the connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter is not stuck between the connector and ECM. Make sure that the 2 levers are securely lowered. Install the ECM with bracket with the 3 bolts. Torque: 6.5 N*m (66 kgf*cm, 58 in.*lbf)
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE Install the air cleaner case with the 3 bolts. Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) Connect the harness clamp.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the air cleaner filter element to the air cleaner case. Align the protrusion on the end of the air cleaner hose with the edge of the throttle body and connect the hose. Then, release the lock of the air cleaner hose clamp to secure the clamp. Insert the hinge part of the air cleaner cap into the air cleaner case, then attach the 2 hook clamps. Connect the purge line hose to the clamp. Connect the No. 2 ventilation hose to the air cleaner hose. Connect the 2 purge line hoses to the purge VSV. Connect the 4 wire harness clamps. Connect the purge VSV connector. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- PERFORM REGISTRATION When replacing the ECM, input the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into the new ECM.Refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-493432-S34142713542012081000000) . When replacing the ECM, perform the vehicle stability control system recognition in the new ECM.Refer to «REGISTRATION»(ref-493459-S26352113172012081000000) .
- RESET MEMORY When replacing the ECM, perform the RESET MEMORY procedure (A/T initialization). Check the vehicle type. RESULT Result Proceed to for 4WD Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-493435-S28912877132012081000000) for 2WD Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-493434-S34948415002012081000000)

- INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY Install the accelerator pedal sensor with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) Connect the accelerator pedal sensor connector.

- INSTALL MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the mass air flow meter with the 2 screws. NOTE: Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or jammed when installing the mass air flow meter. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.

"Cold" means approximately -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F). "Hot" means approximately 50 to 100°C (122 to 212°F). If the result is not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.

- INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Install a new gasket to the sensor. Using SST, install the sensor. SST: 09817-33190 Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) Connect the sensor connector.
