DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

WARNINGOn Prius, when performing any inspection or service procedure on this vehicle, ensure service precautions are followed to prevent personal injury or death due to the extremely high voltage. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS (PRIUS) .

System consists of a power main relay, power window switches and power window motors for each door. Camry and Camry Solara are equipped with an integration relay that supplies power to power main relay. Avalon and MR2 have body Electronic Control Units (ECU) and Avalon incorporates separate ECUs for driver and front passenger doors. See MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS for module communication problems.

On all other models, when ignition is switched to RUN position, battery voltage is supplied through power main relay to power window switches. The power window switch supplies power and ground to power window motors.

Driver's power window switch offers one-touch operation of driver's window. Driver's power window switch also includes a lock-out feature to prevent passengers from operating any of the other power window switches.

Avalon (Driver's Window Up Operation)

Disconnect window motor harness connector. Connect ohmmeter positive lead to terminal No. 4 and negative ohmmeter lead to terminal No. 5 at window motor harness connector. Apply battery voltage to terminal No. 1, and connect negative battery lead to terminal No. 2 at window motor harness connector. Ensure continuity exists when window goes up, and does not exist when window is fully closed. If continuity is not as specified, replace window motor assembly. Avalon (Driver's Window Down Operation)

Disconnect window motor harness connector. Connect ohmmeter positive lead to terminal No. 4 and negative ohmmeter lead to terminal No. 5 at window motor harness connector. Apply battery voltage to terminal No. 2, and connect negative battery lead to terminal No. 1 at window motor harness connector. Ensure continuity exists when window goes down, and does not exist when window is fully opened. If continuity is not as specified, replace window motor assembly.
