SERVICE PRECAUTIONS (PRIUS)
| WARNING | When performing any inspection or service procedure on this vehicle, ensure following service precautions are followed to prevent personal injury or death due to the extremely high voltage. |
The following service precautions must be followed
Scheme 28
- Ensure ignition is off and ignition key is removed from ignition before performing any inspection or service procedure in engine compartment, as engine may automatically start and shut off when ignition is on and READY light is illuminated. READY light is displayed just above the shift lever position indicator on instrument cluster at center of instrument panel.
- Read all service and warning labels in engine compartment before performing any procedures in engine compartment.
- All high-voltage wiring harness connectors contain Orange connectors. DO NOT touch any wiring harness that contains Orange connectors.
- High-voltage battery and other high-voltage components may be identified by HIGH VOLTAGE caution labels on them. DO NOT touch these components.
- If necessary to inspect or service high-voltage system, ensure ignition is off. Remove service plug and wait at least 5 minutes to ensure high voltage is fully discharged before touching any high-voltage wiring harness, connectors or components. Service plug is located on service plug assembly at driver's side front corner of trunk compartment, near high-voltage battery. (Scheme 28) Ensure service plug is stored in a location in which no one may install service plug while technician is working on the vehicle.
- If necessary to touch any high-voltage wiring harness, connectors or components, ensure service plug is removed and battery voltage or less exists at electrical connector. Use Toyota insulated gloves when touching any high-voltage wiring harness, connectors or components. Ensure insulated gloves are dry and in good condition and that no holes exist in insulated gloves by applying air to insulated glove before touching any high-voltage wiring harness, connectors or components.
- DO NOT wear any metal objects while working on vehicle which may accidently drop and cause a short circuit.
- If any high-voltage wiring harness connector is disconnected, ensure terminal on wiring harness connector is wrapped with tape to prevent wiring harness connector from contacting any surface.
- If servicing high-voltage system, place sign on roof of vehicle to indicate to other technicians that high-voltage system is being serviced.
Avalon & Prius
- Remove power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect power window motor and power window switch to vehicle wiring harness. Turn ignition on. Operate power window motor to raise window more than 6 rotations (4 seconds or more). Install power window motor to the regulator, with regulator arm below middle point.
- Assemble window regulator and door glass. Connect power window switch to vehicle wiring harness and turn ignition on. Repeat up and down operation of power window manually. Verify power window operates in auto-up and auto-down in automatic operation. DO NOT test jam protection function until completely finished with this procedure. After closing window fully with auto-up operation, open window. Check power window for normal function.
PRIUS

Avalon
- If Toyota hand-held tester is not available, go to next step. If Toyota hand-held tester is available, check jam protection limit switch using DATA LIST mode. If jam protection limit switch is not okay, go to next step.
- Check jam protection limit switch. See «JAM PROTECTION LIMIT SWITCH»(ref-129812-S23940281892001112100000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair as necessary. If jam protection limit switch is okay, go to next step.
- Check wiring harness and connectors between jam protection limit switch and driver door ECU. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-129812-S32977356382001112100000) . Repair as necessary and reset power window motor reset and pulse switch. See «RESETTING POWER WINDOW MOTOR RESET & PULSE SWITCH»(ref-129812-S06422012452001112100000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Check jam protection pulse switch. See «JAM PROTECTION PULSE SWITCH»(ref-129812-S17423374072001112100000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair as necessary. If jam protection pulse switch is okay, go to next step.
- Check wiring harness and connectors between jam protection pulse switch and driver door ECU. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-129812-S32977356382001112100000) . Repair as necessary and reset power window motor reset and pulse switch. See «RESETTING POWER WINDOW MOTOR RESET & PULSE SWITCH»(ref-129812-S06422012452001112100000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Disconnect harness connector from driver's door ECU. Connect ammeter positive lead to terminal No. 1 at harness connector (harness side). see scheme 8
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire between battery positive terminal and terminal No. 14 at harness connector (harness side). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Depress power window switch to down position.
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is as described, replace driver's door ECU. If current is not as described, check and repair appropriate circuit as necessary. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-129812-S32977356382001112100000).
Camry
- Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to driver's power window master switch connector (harness side) terminal No. 3.
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and driver's power window switch harness connector terminal No. 6. see scheme 9
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is as described, replace driver's power window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-129812-S05552674152001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If current is not as described, check and repair appropriate circuit as necessary. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-129812-S32977356382001112100000).
Camry Solara
- Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to terminal No. 3 at driver's power window master switch connector (harness side).
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire from positive battery terminal to driver's power window master switch harness connector terminal No. 4. see scheme 10
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is as described, replace driver's power window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-129812-S05552674152001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Celica
- Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to driver's power window master switch harness connector (harness side) terminal No. 8.
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and driver's power window master switch harness connector terminal No. 6. see scheme 10
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is as described, replace driver's power window master switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-129812-S05552674152001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If current is not as described, check and repair appropriate circuit.
Corolla
- Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to terminal No. 5 at driver's power window master switch harness connector (harness side).
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and terminal No. 1 at driver's power window master switch harness connector. see scheme 9
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is as described, replace driver's power window master switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-129812-S05552674152001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If current is not as described, check and repair appropriate circuit.
ECHO (2-Door)
- Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to terminal No. 3 at driver's power window master switch harness connector (harness side).
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and terminal No. 4 at driver's power window master switch harness connector. see scheme 12
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is as described, replace driver's power window master switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-129812-S05552674152001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If current is not as described, check and repair appropriate circuit.
ECHO (4-Door)
- Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to terminal No. 1 at driver's power window master switch connector (harness side).
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and terminal No. 5 at driver's power window master switch harness connector. see scheme 13
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is not as described, check and repair appropriate circuit.

- Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to terminal No. 1 at driver's power window master switch harness connector (harness side).
- Connect ammeter negative lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery. Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and terminal No. 2 at driver's power window master switch harness connector. see scheme 15
- As driver's window is lowered, current should be about 7 amps. When window operation is stopped, current should increase to about 14.5 amps or more. If current is not as described, check and repair appropriate circuit.

Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Set window lock switch to UNLOCK position. Connect 30-amp fused jumper between 12-volt battery positive terminal and driver's power window master switch terminal No. 8. see scheme 9 Connect another jumper wire between battery negative terminal and driver's power window master switch terminal No. 4. Ensure all switches illuminate. Set window lock switch to LOCK position. Ensure all switch illumination goes out. If operation is not as specified, replace driver's power window master switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, driver's power window master switch is okay.
Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Set window lock switch to UNLOCK position. Connect 30-amp fused jumper between 12-volt battery positive terminal and terminal No. 9 at driver's power window master switch. see scheme 10 Connect another jumper between battery negative terminal and terminal No. 1 at driver's power window master switch. Ensure all switches illuminate. Set window lock switch to LOCK position. Ensure all switch illumination goes out. If operation is not as specified, replace driver's power window master switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, driver's power window master switch is okay.
Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect 30-amp fused jumper wire between 12-volt battery positive terminal and terminal No. 7 at driver's power window master switch. see scheme 10 Connect another jumper wire between battery negative terminal and driver's power window master switch terminal No. 9. Ensure all switches illuminate. If operation is not as specified, replace driver's power window master switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, driver's power window master switch is okay.
Disconnect driver's power window master switch harness connector. Connect 30-amp fused jumper from 12-volt battery positive terminal to terminal No. 11 at driver's power window master switch. see scheme 9 Connect another jumper from battery negative terminal to terminal No. 4 at driver's power window master switch. Ensure all switches illuminate. If operation is not as specified, replace driver's power window master switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, driver's power window master switch is okay.
COMPONENT TESTS

- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from driver's door power window motor. Connect ammeter positive lead to terminal No. 2 at harness side and negative ammeter lead to negative terminal of battery. Connect another jumper wire between positive battery lead and terminal No. 1 at driver's door power window motor (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000) .
- Continue to apply voltage and check that current changes to less than one amp in 4-90 seconds. Wait approximately 60 seconds and connect positive battery lead to terminal No. 2 and negative lead to terminal No. 1. Window should lower. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect 14-pin harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect jumper wire between positive terminal of a 12-volt battery and terminal No. 3 at master switch connector (harness side). see scheme 9 Connect another jumper wire between negative terminal of battery and terminal No. 6 at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-90 seconds). Reverse polarity and ensure window begins to lower within about 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect 10-pin harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect jumper wire between positive terminal of 12-volt battery and terminal No. 3 at master switch connector (harness side). see scheme 10 Connect another jumper wire between negative terminal of battery and terminal No. 4 at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-40 seconds). Reverse polarity and ensure window begins to lower within about 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect 10-pin harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect positive lead of ammeter to terminal No. 6 at master switch connector (harness side). see scheme 11 Connect negative ammeter lead to negative terminal of 12-volt battery.
- Connect jumper wire between positive terminal of battery and terminal No. 8 at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000). Continue to apply voltage. Ensure current draw changes from about 14 amps to less than one amp within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper between positive terminal of battery and terminal No. 6 at master switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 8 at master switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect 14-pin harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of 12-volt battery to terminal No. 5 at master switch connector (harness side). see scheme 9 Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-40 seconds). Reverse polarity and ensure window begins to descend within about 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 3 at master switch connector (harness side). see scheme 12
- Connect a jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 4 at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000). Continue to apply voltage. Check for an audible click from circuit within 4-40 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 4 at master switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 3 at master switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend within 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from driver's power window master switch. Connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 1 at master switch connector (harness side). see scheme 13
- Connect jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 5 at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000). Continue to apply voltage, check for an audible click from circuit within 4-40 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 5 at master switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 at master switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend within 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
MR2
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from body ECU. Connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 5 at body ECU connector (harness side). (Scheme 33)
- Connect jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 4 at master switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000). Continue to apply voltage. Check for an audible click from circuit within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 4 at master switch connector (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 5 at master switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend within 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
Scheme 33
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from driver side window motor. Using an ammeter, connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 1 at connector (harness side). Connect negative lead of ammeter to negative terminal of battery.
- Connect positive lead of ammeter from battery positive terminal to terminal No. 2 of wire connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000) . Continue to apply voltage. Check for current change from 14 amps to less than 1 amp within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect positive lead of ammeter from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 at master switch connector (harness side), and negative lead of ammeter from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 2 at master switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
Avalon (Driver's Window)
Disconnect window motor harness connector. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal No. 3 and negative voltmeter lead to terminal No. 5 at window motor harness connector. Apply battery voltage to terminal No. 1, and connect negative battery lead to terminal No. 2 at window motor harness connector. Pulse should be generated with window motor running. Reverse polarity of battery leads. Pulse should be generated with window motor running in opposite direction. If generated pulse is not as specified, replace window motor assembly. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Camry (With Anti-Theft System)
- Locate integration relay on junction block (behind instrument panel, left of steering column). Measure voltage by backprobing between integration relay 25-pin connector terminal No. 3 and ground. (Scheme 34) Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
- Observe voltmeter and close driver's door. Battery voltage should be present. Open driver's door. Voltage should be zero volts. Observe voltmeter and turn ignition switch to RUN position. Battery voltage should be present. If voltage is not as specified, replace integration relay and retest.
Scheme 34
Camry (Without Anti-Theft System)
- Locate integration relay on junction block (behind instrument panel, left of steering column). Measure voltage by backprobing between ground and terminal No. 12 at integration relay 13-pin harness connector. (Scheme 35) Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
- Observe voltmeter and close driver's door. Battery voltage should be present. Open driver's door. Voltage should be zero volts. Observe voltmeter and turn ignition switch to RUN position. Battery voltage should be present. If voltage is not as specified, replace integration relay and retest.

- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from passenger's door power window motor. Connect ammeter positive lead to terminal No. 1 on harness side, and negative ammeter lead to negative terminal of battery. (Scheme 36) Connect another jumper wire from positive battery terminal to terminal No. 2 at passenger's door power window motor (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000).
- Continue to apply voltage and verify current changes to less than one amp in 4-90 seconds. Wait approximately 60 seconds and connect positive battery terminal to terminal No. 1 and negative battery terminal to terminal No. 2. Window should descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Camry, Camry Solara & Corolla
- Slightly lower passenger window. Disconnect passenger's power window switch 5-pin harness connector. Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of 12-volt battery to terminal No. 3 at power window switch connector (harness side). see scheme 17 Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 at power window switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-40 seconds). Reverse polarity and ensure window begins to descend within about 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect passenger power window switch harness connector. Connect positive lead of ammeter to terminal No. 1 at switch connector (harness side). Connect negative lead from ammeter to negative terminal of 12-volt battery.
- Connect a jumper wire from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 2 at switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000) . Continue to apply voltage. Ensure current draw changes from about 14 amps to less than one amp within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect jumper from positive terminal of battery to switch connector terminal No. 1 (harness side), and jumper from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 2. Ensure window begins to descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.

- Slightly lower driver's window. Disconnect harness connector from passenger side window switch. Using an ammeter connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 1 at connector (harness side). (Scheme 37) Connect negative lead of ammeter to negative terminal of battery.
- Connect positive lead of ammeter from battery positive terminal to terminal No. 2 of wire connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000). Continue to apply voltage. Check for current change from 14 amps to less than 1 amp within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect leads from terminals. Wait 90 seconds, then connect positive lead of ammeter from positive terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 at master switch connector (harness side), and negative lead of ammeter from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 2 at passenger switch harness connector. Ensure window begins to descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If operation is as specified, power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
Celica (Convertible - Rear Quarter Windows)
Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between specified terminals with power window switch in specified position. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST (CELICA CONVERTIBLE - REAR QUARTER WINDOWS) table. (Scheme 38) If continuity does not exist at specified terminals, replace appropriate power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST (CELICA CONVERTIBLE - REAR QUARTER WINDOWS)

- Disconnect harness connector from passenger's door power window motor. Connect ammeter positive lead to harness side of terminal No. 2 and negative ammeter lead to negative terminal of battery. Connect another jumper wire from positive battery lead to terminal No. 1 at passenger's door power window motor (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000) .
- Continue to apply voltage and check that current changes to less than one amp in 4-90 seconds. Wait approximately 60 seconds and connect positive battery lead to terminal No. 1 and negative lead to terminal No. 2 and window should descend. If operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-129812-S12163659382001112100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Slightly lower rear power window. Disconnect rear power window switch 5-pin harness connector. Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of 12-volt battery to terminal No. 3 at rear power window switch harness connector (harness side). see scheme 17 Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 1 at rear power window switch harness connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-90 seconds). Reverse polarity of leads and ensure window begins to descend within about 60 seconds. If operation is not as specified, replace rear power window motor. If operation is as specified, rear power window motor circuit breaker is okay.
- Slightly lower rear power window. Disconnect rear power window switch 5-pin harness connector. Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of 12-volt battery to terminal No. 1 of rear power window switch connector (harness side). see scheme 17 Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of battery to terminal No. 5 at rear power window switch connector (harness side). Window should raise to fully closed position. If window operates correctly, go to next step. If window does not operate correctly, go to «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(ref-129812-S01773663442001112100000).
- Continue to apply voltage until there is an audible click from power window motor circuit breaker (within 4-40 seconds).
