PRECAUTION [08/2013 - ]

  1.   3. POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS NOTE: The power window control system uses the LIN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot the power window control system after confirming that the communication system is functioning properly. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2013 - ]»(ref-635671-S22380098072014070300000) The power window control system prohibits the auto up and down function when the jam protection function malfunctions. If the power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door) has been replaced with a new one, initialize the power window control system. If the power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door) and door window regulator sub-assembly have been removed and installed, or if the power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door) was reused when the door glass or door glass run was replaced, initialize the power window control system. The jam protection function may operate unexpectedly, even when the power window control system is normal, due to detection of a value different than the operation learned value when the door glass moving speed changes sharply under any of the following conditions: A power window is being opened or closed while the vehicle is driven on a rough road. A power window is being opened or closed while the door is being opened or closed. The voltage changes abruptly. Do not disconnect the battery while the ignition switch is ON.   2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS HINT: In troubleshooting, confirm that the problem symptoms have been accurately identified. Preconceptions should be discarded in order to make an accurate judgment. To clearly understand what the problem symptoms are, it is extremely important to ask the customer about the problem and the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred. Gather as much information as possible for reference. Past problems that seem unrelated may also help in some cases. The following 5 items are important points for problem analysis: What Vehicle model, system name When Date, time, occurrence frequency Where Road conditions Under what conditions?   3. PRE-CHECK Measure the battery voltage. Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step. Check the fuses and relays.   1. CHECK WINDOW LOCK FUNCTION HINT: Before performing the window lock switch operation check, make sure that the window lock switch is off (the switch is not pushed in). Check that the front passenger and rear windows cannot be operated when the window lock switch of the power window regulator master switch assembly is pushed in. OK Front passenger and rear windows are disabled. Check that the front passenger and rear windows can be operated when the window lock switch of the power window regulator master switch assembly is pushed in again. OK Front passenger and rear windows operate normally.

  5. CHECK KEY-OFF OPERATION FUNCTION Check that each power window can be operated with the power window regulator master switch assembly, power window regulator switch assembly or rear power window regulator switch assembly after the ignition switch is turned off. HINT: If the window lock switch is on, the power windows cannot be operated except the driver door power window. Therefore, turn the window lock switch off before checking the window operation. Check that the key-off operation function does not operate immediately after the driver door or front passenger door is opened. HINT: Even if the driver door or front passenger door is opened during auto window operation while the key-off operation function is on, the window will stop operating. Check that all the power windows cannot be operated after more than approximately 43 seconds have elapsed since the ignition switch was turned off.
  6. CHECK JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION Check the basic function. WARNING: Do not put your fingers between the door frame and door glass to check the jam protection function. Also, prevent any part of your body from being caught during inspection. HINT: The jam protection function is operative during both the auto up and manual up operations while the engine is running or the ignition switch is ON, and also for approximately 43 seconds after the ignition switch is turned off. Fully open the driver door window. Set a check jig wrapped with a piece of cloth near the window fully closed position. *a Check Jig *b Cloth Operate the auto up or manual up function to check that the power window stops and goes down after the check jig is caught between the window and door frame, and stops when the opening reaches approximately 200 mm (7.87 in.) or approximately 5 seconds have elapsed. HINT: If the check jig is caught when the opening is approximately 75 mm (2.95 in.) or more, the power window goes down for approximately 125 mm (4.93 in.) or approximately 2.5 seconds have elapsed. While the power window is moving down, check that the door glass cannot be raised using the power window switch.
  7. CHECK POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH LED ILLUMINATION Check the LED illumination (power window regulator master switch assembly). Check that the LED located in the power window regulator master switch assembly illuminates when the ignition switch is turned to ON.

INITIALIZATION [08/2013 - ]

  1. INITIALIZE POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM (FOR DRIVER DOOR) NOTE: When the door window regulator assembly, power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door), door glass or door glass run is reinstalled or replaced, the power window control system must be initialized. Functions such as the auto up and down function, jam protection function and key-off operation function will not operate if initialization is not performed. When the power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door) is replaced, DTC B2313 is stored. Clear the DTC after initialization. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ]»(ref-635456-S39954245992014070300000) When performing initialization, do not perform any other procedures. If initialization does not complete properly, the LIN communication system may be malfunctioning. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2013 - ]»(ref-635671-S22380098072014070300000) Make sure to park the vehicle and turn off all electrical systems before performing initialization. Initialization will be canceled if the vehicle is driven during initialization. Make sure not to hit, strike or vibrate the door window glass during initialization because the vehicle is learning the sliding resistance of the door window glass. Make sure not to turn the ignition switch to ON or off during initialization. HINT: If the battery has been replaced, it is not necessary to initialize the power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door). Perform initialization according to the table below. Condition of Power Window Proceed to Initialization method when the power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door) has been replaced with a new one. Procedure A Initialization method when the power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door) has been removed/installed or a door glass and/or door glass run etc. have been removed/installed or replaced with new ones. HINT: Use this procedure if the power window regulator motor assembly (for driver door) is being reused. Procedure B Initialization method when a reverse rotation malfunction occurs due to a sliding resistance change resulting from adjustment etc. Procedure C Procedure A Connect the battery and turn the ignition switch to ON. Fully open the power window by fully pushing down the power window regulator master switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully opened. Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the power window regulator master switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully closed to reset the glass position and complete initialization. Procedure B Connect the battery and turn the ignition switch to ON. Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the power window regulator master switch assembly, and hold the switch for 6 seconds or more after the window is fully closed (if the power window does not move or stops halfway, even when the switch is fully pulled up, release the switch and fully pull it up again). Fully open the power window by fully pushing down the power window regulator master switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully opened. Release the power window regulator master switch assembly. Then fully push down and hold the switch for 4 seconds or more. Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the power window regulator master switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully closed to reset the glass position and complete initialization. Procedure C Connect the battery and turn the ignition switch to ON. Fully open the power window by fully pushing down the power window regulator master switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully opened. Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the power window regulator master switch assembly, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully closed to reset the glass position and complete initialization.

FAIL-SAFE CHART [08/2013 - ]

  1. PULSE FAILURE OR DISPLACEMENT OF NON-DETECTION RANGE TO THE OPENING DIRECTION If the pulse sensor built into the power window regulator motor malfunctions, the power window control system enters fail-safe mode. As a result, the auto up and down function will return.
  2. INITIAL FAILURE During initialization of the power window regulator motor ECU, when the window position or initialization complete status cannot be properly read from the EEPROM, the power window control system prohibits operation as follows.
