CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RESET - PROCEDURE 1
- CHECK ENGINE light will blink (Samurai) or stay lit (Sidekick) at 50,000, 80,000 and 100,000 miles to indicate emission system maintenance is required.
- At 50,000 miles, replace PCV valve and inspect EGR system. At 80,000 miles, replace O2S sensor. At 100,000 miles, replace PCV valve, inspect catalytic converter for plugging, and inspect EGR system.
- After service has been performed, turn off CHECK ENGINE light by moving cancel switch to opposite position. Cancel switch is located behind steering column lower trim panel. (Scheme 2)

- After servicing and/or replacing components, reset CHECK ENGINE light by sliding cancel switch to its opposite position. The 3-wire cancel switch is located on main wiring harness. On models with Throttle Body Injection (TBI) (Scheme 2) On 1992 models with Port Fuel Injection (PFI), 1993 models with Multi-Port Injection (MPI) and 1994 models with Multi-Fuel Injection (MFI) (Scheme 3)

ENGINE OIL LIFE RESETTING - PROCEDURE 1
When the system has calculated that oil life has been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is necessary. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL light will come on. Change the engine oil as soon as possible within the next 600 miles (1,000 km). It is possible that, if driving under the best conditions, the oil life system may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for over a year. However, the engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and at this time the system must be reset.
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Anytime the oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where the oil is changed prior to a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message being turned on, reset the system. If the system is ever reset accidentally, change the engine oil at 3,000 miles (5,000 km) since last oil change.
OXYGEN SENSOR WARNING LIGHT RESET - PROCEDURE 1
SENSOR light will start flashing every 60,000 miles to indicate oxygen sensor needs replacement. After replacing oxygen sensor, locate SENSOR light cancel switch attached to steering column bracket. Move cancel switch to opposite position. Start engine and drive vehicle to ensure light does not flash.
TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 1
Note. If spare tire has been used, or if a wheel or tire pressure sensor has been replaced, the tire pressure sensors must be registered, using a Suzuki scan tool (SDT) and a transmitter activation tool (J-45295).
Note. In high altitude areas, the warning light may not turn off even after adjusting tire pressures. In this case, adjust inflation pressure to a slightly higher pressure than specified.
Note. If warning light is flashing, ensure TPM system sensors are registered. If warning light is still on or flashing after adjusting tire pressure and registering system sensors, there is a problem in the TPM system.
TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 2
| CAUTION | Only up to 4 ID codes of the tire pressure sensor can be registered in BCM. Therefore, register only ID codes of those tire pressure sensors that are installed to running wheels. If the ID code of the tire pressure sensor that is installed to any other tire than above 4 is registered to BCM, BCM detects an abnormality of the system when the vehicle is driven for longer than 10 minutes and makes the low tire pressure warning light to light up after blinks for 75 seconds. |
TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 3
| CAUTION | Only 4 tire pressure sensor ID codes tire pressure sensor can be registered in keyless start control module. Therefore, register only ID codes of tire pressure sensors that are installed on vehicle wheels. If the ID code of tire pressure sensor of any other tire besides the 4 vehicle tires is registered in keyless start control module, keyless start control module will detect an abnormality in the system when the vehicle is driven for longer than 10 minutes and makes the low tire pressure warning light blinks for 75 seconds and then remain lit |
Note. Standard sensor activation tool (09945-86510) cannot be used for registration of tire pressure sensor ID codes. Therefore, use recommended tool VT55 (made by ATEQ) as an alternative.

- Install the TPMS transmitters to the vehicle.
- Connect the scan tool with ALDL connector.
- Turn the Ignition switch to ON.
- Go to the ID resister mode of the scan tool.
- Contact the LF tool on the air valve and push the LF tool button for 4 seconds, and you can see the TPMS warning lamp blinks. Also you can see the ID on the scan tool screen.
- Repeat step 5 for 4 tires respectively within 5 minutes. NOTE: In case of tire replacement or rotation, the ID registration should be performed for 4 tires.
