LUBRICATION & ADJUSTMENTS

BRAKE BAND ADJUSTMENT
- Using socket wrench, hold end of 10 mm screw projecting on left side of transaxle case and loosen lock nut with wrench. If engine RPM increases excessively shifting up from 2nd to 3rd or if there is a shift delay of over one second at kickdown from 3rd to 2nd, tighten adjusting screw 3/4 turn. If engine braking is noted when shifting up from 2nd to 3rd, loosen adjusting screw 3/4 turn.
- If a direct upshift from 1st to 3rd occurs during acceleration or tire slip occurs when upshifting from 2nd to 3rd, torque adjusting screw to 80 INCH lbs. (9 N.m) then back off 3 turns. Hold adjusting screw and torque lock nut to 18-21 ft. lbs. (24-28 N.m).
INHIBITOR SWITCH ADJUSTMENT
- Separate cable end from shift selector lever. Using a circuit tester, check continuity at connector T3 for all positions. See «INHIBITOR SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST»(ref-458-S01600684532000030800000) table for specifications. For connector terminal identification (Scheme 2) Ensure continuity in ignition circuit does not exist at terminals No. 11 and 12 when selector lever is in "R", "D", "3", "2" and "1" positions.
- Check continuity when selector lever is moved 1.5 degrees in both directions from "N" range. If there is continuity in one direction and not in the other or if there is continuity at unequal points, adjust inhibitor switch.
- To adjust, loosen 3 inhibitor switch securing bolts and shift select lever to "N" range. Insert Stopper Pin (499267300 ) as vertical as possible into holes in inhibitor switch lever and switch body. (Scheme 3) Tighten 3 inhibitor switch bolts. Remove stopper pin and repeat checks. If inhibitor switch cannot be adjusted, replace inhibitor switch.
