U241E Automatic Transaxle: Overhaul Scion xB II

REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S4 Coat the shift solenoid valve S4 with ATF, and install it into the transmission valve body assembly with the bolt. Torque: 11 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)
2. INSTALL SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE DSL Coat the shift solenoid valve DSL with ATF, and install it into the transmission valve body assembly with the bolt. Torque: 11 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)
3. INSTALL SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT Coat the shift solenoid valve SLT with ATF, and install it into the transmission valve body assembly. Install the No. 3 solenoid lock plate onto the transmission valve body assembly. Torque: 6.6 N*m (67 kgf*cm, 58 in.*lbf)
4. INSTALL SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 Coat the shift solenoid valve SL2 with ATF, and install it into the transmission valve body assembly. Install the No. 2 solenoid lock plate onto the transmission valve body assembly. Torque: 11 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)
5. INSTALL SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1 Coat the shift solenoid valve SL1 with ATF, and install it into the transmission valve body assembly. Install the No. 1 solenoid lock plate onto the transmission valve body assembly. Torque: 6.6 N*m (67 kgf*cm, 58 in.*lbf)
6. INSTALL MANUAL VALVE Coat the manual valve with ATF, and install it into the transmission valve body assembly.

1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY Align the groove on the manual valve with the pin of the lever. Install the transmission valve body assembly with the 17 bolts. Torque: 11 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Push the valve body against the accumulator piston springs and check ball body to install the valve body. First, temporarily tighten the bolts marked with (1) in the illustration because they are positioning bolts. Bolt length: 25 mm (0.984 in.) for Bolt A 41 mm (1.614 in.) for Bolt B 45 mm (1.771 in.) for Bolt C
2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION WIRE Coat the O-ring of the ATF temperature sensor with ATF. Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and bolt. Torque: 6.6 N*m (67 kgf*cm, 58 in.*lbf) Connect the 5 shift solenoid valve connectors.
3. INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY Coat a new O-ring with ATF, and install it into the valve body oil strainer assembly. Install the valve body oil strainer assembly with the 3 bolts. Torque: 11 N*m (110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)
4. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY (See «INSTALLATION»(ref-289742-S29977623642008070700000) )
5. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID Fluid type: Toyota Genuine ATF WS
6. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (See «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION»(ref-289742-S15038766492008070700000) )
7. INSPECT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID LEAK
8. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE MANUAL VALVE Remove the manual valve from the transmission valve body assembly.
2. REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1 Remove the bolt and No. 1 solenoid lock plate from the transmission valve body assembly. Pull out the shift solenoid valve SL1 from the transmission valve body assembly.
3. REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 Remove the bolt and No. 2 solenoid lock plate from the transmission valve body assembly. Pull out the shift solenoid valve SL2 from the transmission valve body assembly.
4. REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT Remove the bolt and No. 3 solenoid lock plate from the transmission valve body assembly. Pull out the shift solenoid valve SLT from the transmission valve body assembly.
5. REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE DSL Remove the bolt and pull out shift solenoid valve DSL from the transmission valve body assembly.
6. REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S4 Remove the bolt and pull out shift solenoid valve S4 from the transmission valve body assembly.
