PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT Using the Techstream, check if LIN communication DTC B2785 is output. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [05/2013 - ]»(ref-615309-S11930075772014050900000) . HINT: If a LIN communication DTC is output, perform troubleshooting for the LIN communication system. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [05/2013 - 01/2014]»(ref-615309-S21837371712014050900000) . RESULT Result Proceed to DTC B2785 is output A DTC B2785 is not output B B --> See step 3 A --> See step 2
  2. GO TO LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (DTC B2785). Refer to «DTC B2785: Communication Malfunction between ECUs Connected by LIN»(ref-615311-S05187564732014050900000)
  3. REPLACE STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (STEERING LOCK ECU). Refer to «DISASSEMBLY [05/2013 - ]»(ref-615273-S21299910952014050900000)

  3. REPLACE STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (STEERING LOCK ECU). Refer to «DISASSEMBLY [05/2013 - ]»(ref-615273-S21299910952014050900000)
  1. INSPECT STEERING LOCK ECU Disconnect the C18 steering lock ECU connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition C18-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms Reconnect the C18 steering lock ECU connector. Turn the engine switch off, make sure that the steering is unlocked and move the shift lever to P (for Automatic Transaxle). Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below. In order to take measurements when the lock motor is operating, perform either of the following operations: To unlock the steering, carry the electrical key transmitter and turn the engine switch on (ACC) or on (IG) while the shift lever is in P*. To lock the steering, turn the engine switch off with the shift lever in P*, and then open a door. *: for Automatic Transaxle NG --> See step 4 OK: Go to next step
  2. CLEAR DTC AND DATA LIST MALFUNCTION RECORD Clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [05/2013 - ]»(ref-615308-S26071111752014050900000) . Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, wait for 30 seconds or more, and then reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal to clear the record of malfunctions stored in Power Supply Open in the Data List. NEXT: Go to next step
  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (POWER SUPPLY OPEN) Perform the DTC output confirmation operation. Check if DTC B2782 is output. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [05/2013 - ]»(ref-615308-S26071111752014050900000) . Use the Data List to check if steering lock control is functioning properly. SMART KEY Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Power Supply Open Record of malfunction of signal sent to steering lock actuator assembly (motor) from power source control ECU (open circuit) (DTC B2782 stored)/OK or NG(Past) OK: No record of malfunction (open circuit) NG(Past): Record of malfunction (open circuit) exists This item records malfunctions in the circuit between the power source control ECU and steering lock actuator assembly (motor).   4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU - STEERING LOCK ECU) Disconnect the C43 power source control ECU connector. Disconnect the C18 steering lock ECU connector. Check for deformation and corrosion of the connector case and terminals. OK There is no deformation or corrosion of the connector case or terminals. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   1. CHECK DTC (ALL) Using the Techstream, confirm the output of DTCs for all systems. OK No DTCs are output. NOTE: When using the Techstream with the engine switch off, perform either of the following: 1) Turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the Techstream and vehicle begins, or 2) connect the Techstream to the vehicle, select the vehicle type under manual mode, and then enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Trouble Codes. Make sure that no DTCs are output. If any DTCs are output, proceed to Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [05/2013 - ]»(ref-615308-S26071111752014050900000) . NG --> GO TO DTC CHART OK: Go to next step
  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LOCK REQUEST RECEIVE) Use the Data List to check if the steering lock command is functioning properly. SMART KEY Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Lock Request Receive Reception state of steering lock command signal determined by certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and sent to ID code box (immobiliser code ECU)/OK or NG HINT: The reception state is maintained for 10 seconds. When 10 seconds or more elapse after receiving the signal, the item changes to "NG". OK: Within 10 seconds of opening any door with engine switch off and shift lever in P (for Automatic Transaxle) NG: Except above If this item does not change to "OK" even though the steering lock conditions are met, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) may be malfunctioning. OK The certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) receives a lock request signal within 10 seconds of turning the engine switch from on (IG) to off and opening a door with the shift lever in P (for Automatic Transaxle), and OK is displayed on the Techstream screen. NG --> See step 5 OK: Go to next step

The steering cannot be locked. The steering cannot be unlocked (the engine cannot be started). OK OK is displayed on the Techstream. HINT: Reasons for verification failure: The certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) is malfunctioning. There is a problem with the communication between ECUs. An ECU is replaced, but is not registered. An ECU is replaced with an ECU which has a code already stored in it. NG --> See step 14 OK: Go to next step
  9. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (L CODE CHECK) Use the Data List to check if L code certification is functioning properly. SMART KEY Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note L Code Check Verification result between ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) and steering lock actuator assembly/OK or NG OK: Verification result normal NG: Verification result abnormal When a malfunction is present: The ID code for the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) or steering lock actuator assembly is not registered or the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) or steering lock actuator is malfunctioning. The steering cannot be locked. The steering cannot be unlocked (the engine cannot be started). OK OK is displayed on the Techstream. HINT: Reasons for verification failure: The steering lock ECU or ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) is malfunctioning. There is a problem with the communication between ECUs. An ECU is replaced, but is not registered. An ECU is replaced with an ECU which has a code already stored in it. NG --> See step 15 OK: Go to next step
  10. REPLACE STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (STEERING LOCK ECU) Replace the steering lock actuator assembly (steering lock ECU) with a new one. Refer to «DISASSEMBLY [05/2013 - ]»(ref-615273-S21299910952014050900000) . Perform the registration procedures. Refer to «REGISTRATION [05/2013 - ]»(ref-615123-S24541716512014050900000) . Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the steering wheel and check the steering condition. OK Steering is unlocked. NG --> See step 18 OK --> END
