- PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [05/2013 - 01/2014]»(ref-615109-S22240423792014050900000) .
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Refer to «REMOVAL [05/2013 - 01/2014]»(ref-615273-S32258338492014050900000)
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER NOTE: Removing the steering column cover incorrectly will cause the steering column cover to break. Push the right and left sides of the lower cover and detach the 4 claws. Insert your fingers into the opening of the tilt lever of the lower cover to detach the claw. HINT: Spread the claw to detach it. Turn the lower cover to detach the 2 claws and remove the lower cover as shown in the illustration. Detach the claw and 2 pins and remove the upper cover.
- REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connectors from the combination switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly. Use pliers to hold the clamp and raise the claw with a screwdriver. Remove the combination switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly. - REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Fold back the floor carpet, and then remove the 2 clips and column hole cover silencer sheet.
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Remove the bolt. NOTE: Do not disconnect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering intermediate shaft. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering intermediate shaft. - REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING Remove the return spring.
- REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL [05/2013 - ] - Step 1»(ref-615253-S18208213812014050900000)
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connectors and detach the wire harness clamps from the power steering ECU assembly. Detach the wire harness clamps from the steering column assembly. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and steering column assembly. NOTE: Do not release the tilt lever when the steering column assembly is not installed on the vehicle. Do not drop or strike the steering column assembly. If dropped or struck, replace it with a new one.
- REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Remove the bolt. NOTE: Do not remove the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering column assembly. - PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [01/2014 - ]»(ref-615109-S31931454042014050900000) .
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Refer to «REMOVAL [01/2014 - ]»(ref-615273-S07220312152014050900000)
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER NOTE: Removing the steering column cover incorrectly will cause the steering column cover to break. Push the right and left sides of the lower cover and detach the 4 claws. Insert your fingers into the opening of the tilt lever of the lower cover to detach the claw. HINT: Spread the claw to detach it. Turn the lower cover to detach the 2 claws and remove the lower cover as shown in the illustration. Detach the claw and 2 pins and remove the upper cover.
- REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connectors from the combination switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly. INSTALLATION [01/2014 - ]
- INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY See step 3
- INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering column assembly. Install the bolt. Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY Check that the 2 bushings are securely installed to the steering column assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Collar *2 Bushing HINT: If the bushings are missing or damaged, replace the steering column assembly with a new one. Install the steering column assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts. Bolt Torque: 36 N*m (367 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf) Nut Torque: 25 N*m (255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not damage the 2 bushings. Do not line-up the bolt holes by prying on the collar or bushings. Do not install the bolt at an angle or apply any force to the bushings. There are two different bolt sizes (12 mm (0.472 in.) or 14 mm (0.551 in.)) available. Attach the wire harness clamps to the steering column assembly. Connect the connectors and attach the wire harness clamps to the power steering ECU assembly.

- CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering intermediate shaft assembly. Install the bolt. Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION [05/2013 - ] - Step 2»(ref-615253-S05092156602014050900000)
- INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING Install the return spring.
- INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION [01/2014 - ] - Step 1»(ref-615288-S37696616392014050900000)
- INSTALL UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Refer to «INSTALLATION [01/2014 - ]»(ref-615283-S27473722642014050900000)
- INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Install the column hole cover silencer sheet with the 2 clips. Install the floor carpet.
- INSTALL COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Using pliers, pinch the clamp and attach the claw to install the combination switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly. Connect the connectors to the combination switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER NOTE: If the steering column cover is installed incorrectly, it will not be possible to assemble the steering column cover. Attach the claw and 2 pins to install the upper steering column cover. Attach the 2 claws to install the lower steering column cover. Attach the 4 claws. Attach the claw. HINT: Press the area around the claw to attach it.
