PRECAUTION [07/2013 - ]

  1. PRECAUTION FOR OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM REPLACEMENT The occupant sensing control unit of the occupant sensing system (passenger seat only) and the occupant sensor are secured to the seat cushion frame and therefore, never remove the occupant sensing control unit or occupant sensor from the seat cushion frame. Do not replace the seat cushion pad by itself. Make sure to replace it in a unit of the seat cushion pad and frame assembly. In the production line, the seat cushion pad and cushion frame are adjusted as a set and therefore, the occupant sensing system may not work properly if these were paired with a cushion or frame from another vehicle or different set. If the seat cushion cover is removed, make sure to replace the hang wire on the seat cushion side with a new wire. Do not connect the battery to the opposite terminal. Ignoring this may damage the occupant sensing system instantaneously. Do not disconnect the battery cable while the engine is running. Ignoring this may damage the electronic components such as in the occupant sensing control unit because of the large negative surge yielded in the alternator. Before disconnecting the connector between each sensor and control unit, always turn off the ignition switch first and then wait at least 60 seconds. Ignoring this may damage the occupant sensing control unit. All of the parts associated with the occupant sensing system are precision components. Do not drop them.

FAIL-SAFE CHART [07/2013 - ]

  1. FAIL SAFE FUNCTION The following chart shows the status of the controls when the system is normal and malfunctioning. The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator ("ON" and "OFF") comes on for approximately 6 seconds, then goes off for approximately 2 seconds. Approximately 8 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to ON, the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator will indicate ON or OFF depending on the conditions listed below. Condition ON Indicator OFF Indicator Front Passenger Airbag Front Seat Side Airbag RH Curtain Shield Airbag RH Front Seat Belt Pretensioner RH Occupied ON OFF o o o o Child restraint system is installed.
