To install, position drivers wiper arm between locator dot in blackened out area of windshield and bottom of dot matrix in windshield. Position passengers wiper arm at locating line in windshield. Install NEW wiper arm retaining nuts. Tighten wiper arm retaining nuts to 21 ft. lbs. (28 N.m).

Hold wiper arm away from glass. Using small flat-blade screwdriver, disengage wiper arm retaining latch. Remove wiper arm from wiper motor shaft. To install, position wiper arm slightly below bottom defroster grid of rear glass while sliding onto wiper motor shaft. Push retaining latch inward to secure wiper arm to wiper shaft.

Removal (Front)

  1. Remove wiper arm. See «WIPER ARM»(ref-1043-S39162463532000031300000) . Remove antenna from base (if equipped). Remove retaining screws from air inlet grille. Raise hood. Remove plastic retainers from air inlet grille panel. Lift right side of air inlet grille panel up toward windshield. Disconnect washer hose from air inlet grille panel. Close hood. Slide left side of air inlet grille panel up towards windshield and remove.
  2. Remove instrument panel top cover screw caps and screws. Lift top panel at rear edge to disengage clips, and slide panel out of clips at windshield. Loosen A/C defroster duct and move to right to expose wiper module fasteners. Position wiper motor crank arm at 12 o'clock position to ease removal of wiper module.
  3. Remove module fasteners. Partially remove module/motor and disconnect wiring. Remove module/motor. Remove crank arm nut and disconnect crank arm from motor shaft. Remove motor screws. Separate motor from module.

Note. To install NEW module, ensure position of crank arm is at 12 o'clock to ease installation. If a NEW wiper motor is installed, remove wiper motor crank arm from new motor and discard.

Installation

  1. Install wiper motor to wiper module. Press transmission links onto wiper motor crank arm firmly by hand. Ensure position of transmission links are not bottomed on crank arm ball.
  2. Partially install wiper module assembly, and connect wiring to wiper motor and module frame. Tighten outboard bolt first, inboard second and nuts last. Tighten bolts to 160 INCH lbs. (18 N.m). Tighten nuts to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). Turn wiper switch on momentarily. Once wiper switch is turned off, wiper mechanism should be in park position with crank arm in 9 o'clock position.
  3. Connect washer hose to nozzle. Install air inlet grille. Install wiper arms. Install wiper module fasteners under instrument panel top cover. Move A/C defroster duct to original position and tighten screws. Install instrument top cover panel. Test wiper operation.
