Wipers Do Not Operate In Any Mode

  1. Check WIPER fuse (25-amp) in instrument panel junction block. Check for faulty Red wire between IGN4 fuse (30-amp) and ignition switch, faulty Brown wire between ignition switch and WIPER fuse, or faulty Yellow wire between WIPER fuse (25-amp) and wiper module. Check for faulty Black wire between wiper switch and ground, or between wiper module and ground. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-1043-S12363093772000031300000) .
  2. Check for faulty ignition switch or faulty wiper module. Check for faulty wiper switch. See «WIPER/WASHER SWITCH»(ref-1043-S06285361302000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Check for too much friction between wiper blades and windshield.

Wipers Run At High Speed Only

Check for faulty Brown wire between wiper module and wiper switch, or faulty Black wire between wiper switch and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for faulty wiper module. Check for faulty wiper switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS.

Wipers Do Not Run At High Speed

Check for faulty Purple wire between wiper module and wiper switch, or faulty Black wire between wiper switch and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for faulty wiper module. Check for faulty wiper switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS.

Wipers Run On Intermittent Only Or Wipers Do Not Run On Intermittent

Check for faulty Black wire between wiper switch and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for faulty wiper module. Check for faulty wiper switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS.

Wipers Slow Or Jerky

Check for faulty wiper module. Check for too much friction between wiper blades and windshield. Check for faulty Black wire between wiper module and ground, or faulty Red wire between IGN4 fuse and ignition switch. Check for faulty Brown wire between ignition switch and WIPER fuse, or faulty Yellow wire between WIPER fuse and wiper module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

Wipers Run With Wiper Switch Off

Check for faulty wiper module. Check for faulty wiper switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. Check for faulty Purple wire between wiper module and wiper switch, or faulty Brown wire between wiper module and wiper switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

Washer Pump Does Not Operate

Check for faulty Black wire between washer pump and ground, or faulty Pink wire between wiper module and washer pump. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for faulty washer pump or wiper module. Check for faulty wiper/washer switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS.

Wiper Does Not Operate

  1. Check SUN fuse (15-amp) in instrument panel junction block. Check PWR CONVCE fuse (30-amp) in underhood junction block.
  2. Check for faulty window relay, faulty Black wire between wiper motor and ground, faulty Orange wire between SUN fuse (15-amp) and wiper motor, faulty Orange wire between SUN fuse and wiper switch or faulty White wire between wiper switch and wiper motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-1043-S12363093772000031300000) .
  3. Check for faulty wiper switch. See «REAR WIPER/WASHER SWITCH»(ref-1043-S29612970252000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Check for faulty wiper motor. Check for too much friction between wiper blades and windshield.

Slow Wiper

Check for faulty wiper motor. Check for too much friction between wiper blades and windshield. Check for faulty Red wire between PWR CONVCE fuse (30-amp) and window relay. Check for faulty Orange wire between SUN fuse (15-amp) and wiper switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

Jerky Wiper

Check for faulty wiper motor. Check for too much friction between wiper blades and windshield. Check for faulty window relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for faulty wiper switch. See REAR WIPER/WASHER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS.

Wiper Stops, Then Restarts After Several Minutes

Check for faulty wiper motor. Check for too much friction between wiper blades and windshield.

Wiper Runs When Wiper Switch Is Off

Check for faulty wiper switch. See REAR WIPER/WASHER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. Check for faulty White wire between wiper motor and wiper switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for faulty wiper motor.

Check for faulty washer pump. Check for faulty Dark Green wire between wiper switch and washer pump, or faulty Black wire between washer pump and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

FRONT WIPER/WASHER SWITCH

Remove steering column covers for access to connectors on back of multifunction switch (combination switch). Disconnect wiper/washer switch connector from right side of multifunction switch. Measure resistance across switch terminals. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH RESISTANCE table. (Scheme 2) If resistance is not as specified, replace wiper/washer switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
