Integrated Central Electronics (Ice): Removal & Installation Saab 900 II

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

When all checks have been carried out as specified in the list of actions under each diagnostic trouble code heading without anything being detected, it is natural to assume that the electronic control module is faulty. Taking into account the fact that an electronic control module is a very expensive high quality component, it is important to be as sure as possible the diagnosis is correct.

Go through the following points very carefully before you definitely decide that it is the electronic control module/instrument which is the cause of the fault.

  1. Check once again that all points in the checking of the functions or all checking points in the fault diagnosis list for the code in question have been carried out.
  2. Study the wiring diagram of the circuit in question and make sure you understand how it works.
  3. Check all grounding points. If you have done this already, do it again.
  4. Check the power supply and the fuses for the electronic control module.
  5. Check that there are no slide-outs in the electronic control module's connector.
  6. Go through the points under «DIAGNOSTIC TIPS»(ref-150392-S14097289352002111200000) once more.
  7. If the original fault remains in spite of this, a new electronic control module must be fitted.

Removal

  1. Remove instrument cluster. See «INSTRUMENT CLUSTER»(ref-150392-S06617078972002111900000) . Remove all lamp sockets and check the position of the GREY lamp.
  2. Remove the 3 steel screws and the 7 brass screws.
  3. Carefully lift out the foil.

Installation

Note. Be careful with the GREY lamp.

Fit the foil carefully to the back cover and refit the lamps in their correct positions.
