Checking and adjustment points
- Check that the plastic paint protector is intact. If damage has occurred in the paint protector, remove this in order to investigate possible damage. Then store the vehicle preferably under a roof. IMPORTANT: The plastic paint protector may remain on the car for no more than 3 months and must then be removed.
- Unlock the vehicle.
- Perform «BATTERY INSPECTION/TEST»(ref-653644-S38162981772014090100000) . IMPORTANT: If possible, the battery should be checked before the car is started in order to prevent misleading results due to "top charging". If the car has already been started, wait 20 minutes before connecting the battery analyzer.
- Fill fuel to min. 2/3 tank to prevent the fuel pump running dry.
- Check the engine oil. If the oil is thick or contains lumps then the oil and oil filter must be changed.
- Check and if necessary adjust the tire pressure to 3.5 bar (50 psi). IMPORTANT: If the car is parked for lengthier periods with underinflated tyres, a flat area will form where they are resting on the ground. This gives rise to vibration and makes wheel balancing more difficult.
- Check Coolant, freezing point and level. See «COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING AND FILLING (LAU/A28NER)»(ref-653648-S06131525382014090100000) or «COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING AND FILLING (LHU/A20NFT)»(ref-653648-S39426541432014090100000) .
- Drive the vehicle and at the same time carry out several short braking procedures so that the brake discs are clean and dry.
- Park the vehicle in the opposite direction to distribute the effect of the sun.
- Open the bonnet so the engine cools down faster.
- Check and correct if necessary the protective plastic for the seats.
- Make sure that: The handbrake lever is in fully released position. Manual gearbox: Reverse gear is selected. Automatic transmission: Selector lever is in position P. All windows, doors and bootlid/tailgate are properly closed.
- Lock the vehicle.
- Check the engine bay with respect to corrosion, especially on aluminum. Treat as necessary with protective wax. Apply a wide film of wax without excess. WARNING: Be aware of the risk of fire. Make sure that the temperature in the engine compartment has decreased. Do not spray against the end of the generator. IMPORTANT: It may be advantageous to allow the protective wax to remain as engine compartment protection when delivered to the customer. If the customer does not find this acceptable it can of course be washed off.
- Close the hood.
