Vertical adjustment Manual

Manual

  1. Manual adjustment is performed from above with the adjusting screw on the back of the headlamp.

Electrical

IMPORTANTThe height-adjuster must be in 0 position while adjustment is being performed. The ignition must have been turned on once.

Vertical adjustment is performed with the adjusting knob on the actuator motor, which adopts the new setting as the starting point for the headlamp beam adjustment.

  1. Remove the direction indicator, see «DIRECTION INDICATOR»(ref-212222-S34961348982005122200000) . Remove the headlamp, see «HEADLAMP»(ref-212222-S37864130152005122200000) .
  2. Turn the motor approx. 45° and pull it straight out with medium force.

Scheme 9: To fit
  1. Remove the cover.
  2. Lift up the reflector and press the motor shaft down into the groove.
  3. Press in the motor and turn it approx. 45° to fasten it.
  4. Fit the headlamp, see «HEADLAMP»(ref-212222-S37864130152005122200000) .
  5. Fit the direction indicator, see «DIRECTION INDICATOR»(ref-212222-S34961348982005122200000) .

Manual headlamp beam adjustment

The height of the headlamp units can be adjusted to change the beam length. The headlamp beam adjustment control is on the dashboard on the left of the steering wheel. Each headlamp is equipped with a motor that can be operated from the control on the dashboard.

Scheme 11: Daylight driving lights

Daylight driving lights (dipped beam) will be on when the light switch on the dashboard is in position 0 and the ignition is in position ON (+15 and +54). Parking lights, rear lights and number plate lighting will also be on. The power feed to the dipped-beam lamps is controlled by DICE.

In certain markets, dipped beam is used as daylight driving lights.

To enable DICE to determine what position (0-1-2) the light switch (10) is set to, the control module uses bus information from TWICE and its own pins 39 and 15.

TWICE monitors the parking lights and sends information on the bus (Rear light Left ON/OFF and Rear light Right ON/OFF). The ON message corresponds to switch position 1 and the OFF message corresponds to position 0 or 2.

To enable DICE to determine the position setting, it uses pins 39 and 15. DICE pin 39 is connected to light switch pin 10, which corresponds to position 0. DICE pin 15 is connected to light switch pin 11, which corresponds to position 2.

+54 voltage is fed via fuse 35 to pin 6 on the light switch. The voltage passes to pin 39 on DICE from pin 10 on the switch, whereby the dipped beam relay will be grounded via pin 4 on DICE and close. +30 voltage is fed through the dipped beam relay (8) via fuses (7 and 9) and on to the headlamps (pin 3).

Diagnostic trouble code 1160 is generated in the event of an open circuit or a short circuit to ground or a short circuit to B+.

DTCs are not generated if the voltage is below 11 V or during diagnostic communication.
