Warning, Important and Note

The headings "Warning", "Important" and "Note" occur from time to time in the service information. The importance of the information is indicated by the three different headings and the difference between them is explained below.

WARNINGWarns of the risk of material damage and grave injury to mechanics and the driver, as well as serious damage to the car.
IMPORTANTPoints out the risk of minor damage to the car and also warns the mechanic of difficulties and time-wasting mistakes.

Scheme 6: Vehicle Identification Number

When contacting a Saab dealer it may sometimes be necessary to quote the car's vehicle identification, engine and gearbox numbers.

  1. VIN inside windscreen
  2. Gearbox number
  3. Engine no.
  4. Label for colour codes (body and trim) and tyre pressure
  5. VIN plate
  6. VIN (stamped on body)

Fitting a modification identity plate

As of MY04, the modification identification plate is not factory fitted but is provided in the vehicles Warranty and Service Book. On markets that require the vehicle to be marked, the plate must be fitted as follows

  1. Open the bonnet.
  2. Using Teroson FL875, clean the area of the body to which the plate is to be adhered. Remove the protective backing from the plate.
  3. Press the plate into place as illustrated. (Scheme 7): Identifying Number Plate
  4. Mark the specified box on the plate and close the bonnet.

Affix the labels with Japanese text on the following places. Clean the surface thoroughly before affixing the label.

If the VIN label is damaged in a collision or while repairing damage, the garage can order a replacement label from the spare parts department in Nykoping.
