In the method described below, the generator has already been removed.

Scheme 163

1. Remove the belt pulley cover.
2. Remove the belt pulley using special tools «83 95 709»(ref-275860-S30878733912007122900000) and «83 95 832»(ref-275860-S39815629112007122900000) . NOTE: The belt pulley is threaded counter clockwise.

1. Fit the belt pulley using special tools «83 95 709»(ref-275860-S30878733912007122900000) and «83 95 832»(ref-275860-S39815629112007122900000) . Tightening torque 80 Nm (59 lbf ft)
2. Fit the belt pulley cover.

In the method described below, the generator has already been removed.

1. Remove the belt pulley cover.
2. Remove the belt pulley. NOTE: The belt pulley is threaded counter clockwise.

1. Fit the belt pulley. Tightening torque 80 Nm (59 lbf ft)
2. Fit the belt pulley cover.

In the method described below, the generator has already been removed.

1. Remove the protective housing from the generator.
2. Remove the voltage regulator.

The generator brushes are fixed to the voltage regulator. The whole unit must be replaced with a new one.

1. Carefully straighten the spring tab so that it lies against the voltage regulator. Clean and apply a thin coating of Vaseline to avoid oxidation.
2. Clean the ground connection on the regulator and apply Vaseline.
3. Refit the voltage regulator.
4. Refit the protective housing on to the generator.

2. Remove the guard: Undo the bolts (1, 2) Pull off the guard
3. Remove the regulator: Undo the bolts (arrows)

2. Lower the cover.
3. Lock with lock screws.
4. Press the hose into place.

Add / Remove

When you program a key / remote control, change a control module or fit an electrical accessory, you need to access a new menu called "Add / Remove". The menu option marries and separates components in relation to the car. During "divorcing", critical data can be copied from a control module which is later loaded into the new control module. Remember that any SPS programming should be done before an "Add" operation. You must also retrieve "Security Access" for control modules included in the car's immobilization function. This is retrieved via RS 232 from TIS 2000 when the diagnostic tool requests it. You can also retrieve security access in advance and then kept it for the entire time you are working on the car in question, even if you disconnect the diagnostic tool now and again. Key programming and some activations that concern the central locking system and electric window lifts, for example, are also protected and require security access.
