To remove
In the method described below, the generator has already been removed.
Scheme 11
- Remove the belt pulley cover.
- Remove the belt pulley using special tools «83 95 709»(ref-226767-S29238148772006032800000) and «83 95 832»(ref-226767-S07275127662006032800000) . NOTE: The belt pulley is threaded anticlockwise.
Scheme 12
- Fit the belt pulley using special tools «83 95 709»(ref-226767-S29238148772006032800000) and «83 95 832»(ref-226767-S07275127662006032800000) . Tightening torque 80 Nm (59 lbf ft)
- Fit the belt pulley cover.
Scheme 13
In the method described below, the generator has already been removed.
- Remove the protective housing from the generator.
- Remove the voltage regulator.
The generator brushes are fixed to the voltage regulator. The whole unit must be replaced with a new one.
Scheme 14
- Carefully straighten the spring tab so that it lies against the voltage regulator. Clean and apply a thin coating of Vaseline to avoid oxidation.
- Clean the ground connection on the regulator and apply Vaseline.
- Refit the voltage regulator.
- Refit the protective housing on to the generator.
In the method described below, the generator has already been removed.

Add/Remove
When you program a key/remote control, replace a control module or fit an electrical accessory, enter the " ADD/REMOVE " menu. This menu selection combines or separates the component in relation to the car. During separation, important control module data should be entered in the new control module. Keep in mind that any SPS programming must be completed before an "Add". For control modules included in the car's immobilizer function, "Security access" must be acquired first, either with an RS 232 from TIS 2000 when requested by the diagnostic tool or in advance. If security access is acquired in advance, it can be kept during the entire time you are working on the car, even if the diagnostic tool is disengaged from time to time. Key programming and certain activations regarding e.g. the central locking system and electric window lifts are protected and require security access.
