WHEEL BEARING

Bearings are permanently lubricated and nonadjustable.

BALL JOINT CHECKING

Note. Ball joint checking procedure for 9-3 Series is not available.

9-5 Series

1. Compress ball joint with large pliers. Replace ball joint if axial play exceeds .08" (2.0 mm).
2. To check radial play, apply pressure between lower control arm and vertical link. Replace ball joint if radial play exceeds .04" (1.0 mm). Check ball joint seals for wear and damage. Replace as necessary.

ANTI-ROLL BAR

Note. To remove anti-roll bar on 9-3 Series, engine removal is necessary. See appropriate article in ENGINES.

Note. Front wheel bearings cannot be serviced on 9-5 Series. Replace hub assembly if bearing is worn or defective.
