Preliminary work

1. Clamp shut coolant hoses (flow and return sides) with Hose clamp 3094 ( Tools ).

2. Place collection pan for coolant under the transmission.

Note. If necessary, use a mirror when screwing in and unscrewing the top screws.

3. Unscrew fastening screws between ATF cooler and port plate and remove ATF cooler.

1. Insert new sealing rings in port plate.

Note. If necessary, use a mirror when screwing in and unscrewing the top screws.

3. Position ATF cooler on port plate and screw in screws.

4. Remove Hose clamp 3094 ( Tools ) from coolant pipes (flow and return sides).

Subsequent work

1. Fill in coolant and bleed cooling system. Refer to 19 38 17 Draining and filling in coolant - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

2. Check and if necessary, top up the ATF. Refer to 37 02 35 Checking and topping up ATF - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

3. Install rear underside panel. Refer to 51 94 19 Removing and installing cover for rear underbody - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

2. Unscrew fastening screws between transmission and mount for exhaust system and remove mount for exhaust system.

3. Place collection pan for coolant under the transmission.

4. Unscrew fastening screw between ATF cooler and coolant line and pull coolant line out of ATF cooler.

5. Unscrew fastening screw between ATF cooler and coolant line and pull coolant line out of ATF cooler.

6. Unscrew fastening screws between ATF cooler and port plate and remove ATF cooler.

7. Unscrew fastening screws between port plate and transmission housing and remove port plate.

Installing port plate for ATF cooler

1. Position port plate with new sealing rings on transmission housing and screw in fastening screws.

5. Install engine mount for exhaust system and tighten fastening screws between transmission and engine mount for exhaust system.

6. Remove hose clamp 3094 from coolant pipes (flow and return sides).

2. Fill in coolant and bleed cooling system. Refer to 19 38 17 Draining and filling in coolant - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

3. Check and if necessary, top up the ATF. Refer to 37 02 35 Checking and topping up ATF - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

4. Install rear underside panel. Refer to 51 94 19 Removing and installing cover for rear underbody - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

Notes

Note. Fill only with ATF approved by Porsche. See Spare Parts Catalogue. Hot vehicles should cool down before beginning the activity. Vehicle must be horizontal in order to be filled and checked.

3. Drain ATF. Refer to 37 02 55 Changing ATF - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

4. Remove ATF pan. Refer to 37 55 19 Removing and installing ATF pan - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

5. Remove ATF filter. Refer to 37 58 55 Replacing ATF filter - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

1. Pull off securing clasp for wiring harness plug.

2. Pull off transmission speed connector.

3. Unscrew designated fastening screws for hydraulic control unit.

Note. Do not set down removed control mechanism for transmission on transmission input speed sender (rear of control mechanism). This can damage the sender.

4. Removed control mechanism from transmission and follow up wiring harness plug.

Installing control mechanism for transmission

1. Thinly coat Toroidal sealing ring for wiring harness plug with Vaseline and insert plug into transmission housing.

2. Carefully position control mechanism and insert pin -1- of detent disc into groove of selector valve -2- .

3. Screw in fastening screws for control mechanism until hand-tight.

4. Tighten fastening screws from inside outwards.

5. Attach securing clasp for wiring harness plug and engage holding tongue.

2. Install ATF pan. Refer to 37 55 19 Removing and installing ATF pan - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

3. Fill in ATF. Refer to 37 02 55 Changing ATF - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

4. Install support plate. Refer to 42 14 19 Removing and installing support plate - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

5. Lower the vehicle.
