Installing ATF filter
1. Insert ATF Filter from below into the die electrohydraulic control mechanism and screw in the screws -arrow-. see scheme 248

1. Clean sealing surfaces of ATF pan and transmission.
2. Clean magnet -4- and place it in the bead of the ATF pan. Ensure contact over full area. (Scheme 79)
3. Fit ATF pan -2- with new seal -3- and screw in screws -1-. (Scheme 79)
4. Tighten screws to specified tightening torque --> Tightening sequence:. --> Tightening torque: 8 ftlb.. (Scheme 80)
| CAUTION | Transmission cannot be filled, or only insufficiently with ATF. |
> Do not start engine
> Do not tow vehicle
| WARNING | Danger of scalding and chemical burns from hot ATF |
> Allow ATF to cool down
> Wear personal protective gear (goggles, gloves)
1. Unscrew the ATF filler plug -2- and fill up with ATF using ATF filling device V. A. G. 1924 00000 until surplus ATF escapes at the hole of the ATF filler plug. (Scheme 81)
2. Move selector lever to position P and allow engine to idle.
3. With engine running, add more ATF again until excess ATF emerges from the bore of the ATF filler plug.
4. Inspect and if necessary add ATF. > 370235 Inspecting and adding ATF
5. Replace sealing ring for ATF filler plug and tighten screw.

1. Fit support plate. Refer to 42 14 19 Removing and installing support plate - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .
2. Lower the vehicle.
