How to Remove and Install (X25XE) the Starter Opel Vectra B

Starter, Remove and Install (X 25 Xe) for Repairs to the Starter: See Corresponding Operations in Service Instructions "OHC Petrol Engine".

For a clearer representation, the exhaust manifold (cylinders 1-3-5) is removed in illustration F 9946.

Remove alternator - see operation "Alternator, Remove and Install".

Disconnect cable connections (2) from starter. Detach wiring harness plug from oil pressure switch.

Remove wiring trough (1) from oil pump and from cylinder block and place to one side. Detach knock sensor (cylinders 1-3-5) from cylinder block Press wiring trough and cable connections for starter upwards and remove fastening bolt (3).

Remove fastening bolt (1) and remove starter.

Insert starter with upper fastening bolt and secure. Install lower fastening bolt - tightening torque 40 Nm / 30 lbf. ft.

The knock sensor must rest on the whole surface of the cylinder block - ensure utmost cleanliness. Do not use any washers, spring washers or toothed lock washers. Tightening torque must be adhered to, as malfunctions may otherwise occur.

Connect knock sensor (cylinder 1-3-5) to cylinder block - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.

Fasten cable trough to cylinder block and oil pump - tightening torque - 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

Connect wiring harness plug to oil pressure switch. Attach cable connections to starter.

Install alternator - see operation "Alternator, Remove and Install".
