Fail Safe Function
The electronic cruise control unit is able to check several electronic components. When the control unit detects a malfunction in one or more of these components it activates the fail - safe function. The power supply to the vacuum pump and the vent valve is cut by the cruise control unit to
stop the cruise control.
The fail - safe function will be activated under the following conditions:
· The control unit detects a short circuit to ground at ter. 7 or when the ventilation valve driving transistor is short - circuited and damaged.
· The control unit detects an open or a short circuit to ground at ter. 3.
· The "SET / COAST" and "ACCEL / RESUME" switches have been simultaneously operated.
· The speedometer frequency signal shows a change of 10 km / h (6 mph) or more during approx. 0.35 sec.
