· Measurements at wiring harness plug XB9

TroubleshootingNominal ValueCause of Fault

MT vehicles only:

· Disconnect wiring harness plug XB16 from clutch switch S45

· Ignition "ON"

· Measure voltage with multimeter

from: Clutch switch S45, wiring harness plug XB16 ter. 2
to: Ground> 11.5 V· Fuse C4 defective

or

· Line interrupted

from: Wiring harness plug XB16 ter. 2

to: Fuse C4

· Reconnect wiring harness plug XB16 to clutch switch S45

· Disconnect wiring harness plug XM13 from neutral switch S145

· Transmission in gear

· Measure voltage with multimeter

from: Neutral switch S145, wiring harness plug XM13 ter. 1

to: Ground

· Depress clutch pedal> 11.5 V
0 V· Clutch switch S45 defective or has to be adjusted

or

· Line interrupted or short circuit to voltage

from: Wiring harness plug XM13 ter. 1

to: Clutch switch S45, wiring harness plug XB16 ter. 1

· Release clutch

· Reconnect wiring harness plug XM13 to neutral switch S145

· Disconnect wiring harness plug XB12 from cruise control combination switch S43

· Measure voltage with multimeter

from: Cruise control combination switch S43, wiring harness plug XB12 ter. 2 (female)

to: Ground

· Transmission in neutral> 11.5 V
0 V· Neutral switch S145 defective

or

· Line interrupted or short circuit to voltage

from: Wiring harness plug XB12 ter. 2

to: Neutral switch S145, wiring harness plug XM14 ter. 1

If nominal values are attained:· Line interrupted or short circuit to voltage

from: Control unit K14, wiring harness plug XB9 ter. 4

to: Cruise control combination switch S43, wiring harness plug XB12 ter. 10

or

· Cruise control combination switch S43 defective

AT vehicles only:

· Disconnect wiring harness plug XB12 from cruise control combination switch S43

· Selector lever in position "D", "3", "2" or "L"

· Measure voltage with multimeter

from: Cruise control combination switch S43, wiring harness plug XB12 ter. 2 (female)

to: Ground

· Ignition "ON"

· Selector lever in position "N", "R" and "P"

> 11.5 V
0 V· Fuse C3 defective

or

· Line interrupted or short circuit to voltage
· Selector lever in position "D", "3", "2" and "L"> 11.5 Vfrom: Wiring harness plug XB12 ter. 2
to: Mode switch S118, wiring harness plug XC43 ter. 6

· Mode switch S118 defective
