Radiator Replace

Remove

Warning: To prevent personal injury, do not remove the radiator while the engine and the radiator are hot.

  1. Remove the beauty cover. Refer to Beauty Cover Replace .
  2. Remove the charge air cooler inlet/outlet hoses. Refer to Charging Air System Replace .
  3. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Refilling the Cooling System .
  1. Remove the radiator grill upper guide. Refer to Radiator Grille Guide Replace .
  2. Remove the engine undercover. Refer to Engine Under Covers Replace .
  3. Discharge the A/C system, if equipped.
  1. Remove the radiator upper bracket.
  1. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler line from the automatic transmission, if equipped. Refer to Oil Cooler Line Assembly Replace .
  2. Disconnect the radiator upper/lower hoses from the radiator.
  1. Remove the A/C condenser inlet/outlet pipes from the A/C condenser, if equipped.
  2. Remove the radiator lower bracket from the cradle.

Important: For the proper operation of the cooling system do not damage the radiator fins.

  1. Carefully lower the radiator and fan assembly from the vehicle.
  2. Remove the radiator assembly.
  1. Remove the transmission oil cooler and line, if equipped.
  2. Remove the A/C condenser.
  3. Remove the charge air cooler.

Cleaning Procedure

Warning: NEVER spray water on a hot radiator. The resulting steam could cause personal injury.

Important: The radiator fins are necessary for good heat transfer. Do not brush the fins. This may cause damage to the fins, reducing heat transfer.

Note: Remove bugs, leaves, dirt and other debris by blowing compressed air through the engine side of the radiator. Some conditions may require the use of warm water and a mild detergent.

Install

Important: For the proper operation of the cooling system do not to damage the radiator fins.

  1. Install the charge air cooler.
  2. Install the A/C condenser.
  3. Install the transmission oil cooler and line, if equipped.

Tighten

Tighten the charge air cooler retaining bolts to 8.5 N•m (75.2 lb-in).

Tighten the A/C condenser retaining bolts to 16 N•m (11.8 lb-ft).

Tighten the transmission oil cooler and line retaining bolts to 10 N•m (88.5 lb-in).

  1. Install the radiator assembly.
  1. Install the radiator lower bracket to the cradle.

Tighten

Tighten the radiator lower bracket bolts and nuts to 50 N•m (36.9 lb-ft).

  1. Install the radiator upper bracket retaining bolts to 20 N•m (14.8 lb-ft).
