Engine Pressure Loss Check Opel Agila B

Remove

  1. 1. Raise vehicle to suitable working height
  2. 2. Remove splash panel from vehicle, right side • Remove 2x bolt (1) • Remove 4x clip (2)
  1. 3. Lower vehicle
  2. 4. Release air cleaner assembly (1) from cylinder head cover • Pull off to release 2x rubber locator
  3. 5. Remove cover and air cleaner element from air cleaner assembly • Release 2x clip (2), 2x locator
  1. 6. Disconnect 4x harness connector (2) from 4x ignition coil module (3)
  2. 7. Remove 4x ignition coil module from 4x spark plug • Remove 4x bolt (1)
  1. 8. Remove 4x spark plug from cylinder head • Use Spark Plug Wrench KM-194-E
  1. 9. Remove engine vent valve (1) from cylinder head cover • Pull out • Install new blanking plug
  2. 10. Remove dipstick (2) from engine
  3. 11. Release harness from cylinder head cover • Release 2x clip
  4. 12. Remove breather pipe from cylinder head cover • Release clip
  5. 13. Remove 2x harness bracket from cylinder head cover • Remove 2x bolt
  1. 14. Release cylinder head cover (1) • Remove 7x bolt in stages, in sequence shown
  1. 15. Remove cylinder head cover from cylinder head
  2. 16. Remove 4x gasket (2) from cylinder head cover
  3. 17. Remove gasket (1) from cylinder head cover
  1. 18. Rotate crankshaft clockwise until notch (4) on crankshaft aligns with '0' timing mark (3) on timing chain cover, with No. 1 piston at top dead centre on compression stroke
  2. 19. Ensure that 2x match mark (1, 2) on 2x camshaft sprocket align with cylinder head surface

Note. Ensure valves on No.1 cylinder are fully closed.

  1. 20. Clean mating surface of cylinder head and cylinder head cover
  2. 21. Apply silicon sealant to mating surface of timing chain cover (1) and cylinder head (2) – see “Sealants, Adhesives and Lubricants”
  1. 22. Install new gasket (1) to new cylinder head cover
  2. 23. Install 4x gasket (2) to cylinder head cover
  1. 24. Secure cylinder head cover (1) • Install 7x bolt in stages 5 Nm , 8 Nm , then 11 Nm , in sequence shown
  1. 25. Install 2x harness bracket to cylinder head cover • Install 2x bolt
  2. 26. Install breather pipe to cylinder head cover • Secure clip
  3. 27. Secure harness to cylinder head cover • Secure 2x clip
  4. 28. Install engine vent valve to cylinder head cover • Remove blanking plug • Push on
  5. 29. Remove oil filler cap
  6. 30. Remove cap from coolant expansion tank

Important. Crankshaft must not turn during checking procedure. To ensure crankshaft does not turn, engage first gear and apply parking brake.

  1. 31. Install adaptor (1) of commercially available pressure loss equipment to cylinder No.1 • Hand tighten adaptor • Follow manufacturers instructions
  1. 32. Install and connect pressure loss tool (2) to adaptor (1)
  2. 33. Regulate pressure to 100 psi (6.9 bar) , then read off pressure loss

Note. Investigate any acoustically perceivable escape of compressed air from intake manifold, exhaust, spark plug, crankcase and any formation of bubbles in coolant expansion tank. Maximum permissible pressure loss difference between individual cylinders approximately 10%. Maximum pressure loss of one cylinder should not exceed 25%.

  1. 34. Remove and disconnect pressure loss tool (2) from adaptor (1)
  1. 35. Remove adaptor (1) from cylinder No.1
  2. 36. Disengage first gear

Important. Crankshaft must not turn during checking procedure. To ensure crankshaft does not turn, engage first gear and apply parking brake.

  1. 37. Rotate crankshaft clockwise 180° until cylinder No.3 piston is at (TDC) on compression stroke
  2. 38. Install adaptor (1) of commercially available pressure loss equipment to cylinder No.3 • Hand tighten adaptor • Follow manufacturers instructions
  1. 39. Install and connect pressure loss tool (2) to adaptor (1)
  2. 40. Regulate pressure to 100 psi (6.9 bar) , then read off pressure loss

Note. Investigate any acoustically perceivable escape of compressed air from intake manifold, exhaust, spark plug, crankcase and any formation of bubbles in coolant expansion tank. Maximum permissible pressure loss difference between individual cylinders approximately 10%. Maximum pressure loss of one cylinder should not exceed 25%.

  1. 41. Remove and disconnect pressure loss tool (2) from adaptor (1)
  1. 42. Remove adaptor (1) from cylinder No.3
  2. 43. Disengage first gear

  1. 44. Rotate crankshaft clockwise 180° until cylinder No.4 piston is at (TDC) on compression stroke
  2. 45. Install adaptor (1) of commercially available pressure loss equipment to cylinder No.4 • Hand tighten adaptor • Follow manufacturers instructions
  1. 46. Install and connect pressure loss tool (2) to adaptor (1)
  2. 47. Regulate pressure to 100 psi (6.9 bar) , then read off pressure loss

Note. Investigate any acoustically perceivable escape of compressed air from intake manifold, exhaust, spark plug, crankcase and any formation of bubbles in coolant expansion tank.   1. 48. Remove and disconnect pressure loss tool (2) from adaptor (1)
  1. 49. Remove adaptor (1) from cylinder No.4
  2. 50. Disengage first gear

  1. 51. Rotate crankshaft clockwise 180° until cylinder No.2 piston is at (TDC) on compression stroke
  2. 52. Install adaptor (1) of commercially available pressure loss equipment to cylinder No.2 • Hand tighten adaptor • Follow manufacturers instructions
  1. 53. Install and connect pressure loss tool (2) to adaptor (1)
  2. 54. Regulate pressure to 100 psi (6.9 bar) , then read off pressure loss

Note. Investigate any acoustically perceivable escape of compressed air from intake manifold, exhaust, spark plug, crankcase and any formation of bubbles in coolant expansion tank.   1. 55. Remove and disconnect pressure loss tool (2) from adaptor (1)
  1. 56. Remove adaptor (1) from cylinder No.2
  2. 57. Disengage first gear

Install

  1. 58. Install dipstick to engine
  2. 59. Install oil filler cap
  3. 60. Install cap to coolant expansion tank
  4. 61. Install 4x ignition coil module (3) to 4x spark plug • Install 4x bolt (1) 11 Nm
  5. 62. Connect 4x harness connector (2) to 4x ignition coil module
  1. 63. Install air cleaner element and cover to air cleaner assembly (1) • Secure cover to air cleaner assembly – Secure 2x locator, then secure 2x clip (2)
  2. 64. Secure air cleaner assembly to cylinder head cover • Push on to secure 2x rubber locator
  1. 65. Raise vehicle
  2. 66. Install splash panel to vehicle, right side • Install 4x clip (2) • Install 2x bolt (1)
