Subject:Stop/Start - No Function
Models:Engines:Option:
Agila-B 2011...K12BStop/Start.
Complaint:Stop/Start does not work at delivery, after replacing ECM or clearing DTC's.
Cause:
Production:As of VIN W0LFXB32SBM506619 (18.11.2010) the ECM learning procedure is already complete for delivery.

Remedy:

In case of customer complaint the customer has to be informed that the Stop/Start function will be learned automatically within the first 100 km (63 miles). Does Stop/Start after the first 100 km (63 miles) not work yet, a Stop/Start learning procedure must be performed.

Note: The Stop/Start learning procedure is also required if the DTC’s are deleted from the ECM or the ECM is replaced.

Vehicles with Stop/Start option can be identified by presence of the switch “ENG A-STOP – OFF” (Picture I, 1)

Note: The default condition of the switch is “ON”. The telltale of the switch illuminates when Stop/Start is switched “OFF”.

Important: When all of the following conditions are met, the Stop Start control module sends an engine stop signal to the ECM via the CAN communication line. The ECM then stops the engine.

- The battery is sufficiently charged - The battery temperature is 5 to 55 °C - The vehicle speed is below 3 km/h (2 mph) - The vehicle speed was above 6 km/h (4 mph) after starting off - The engine coolant temperature is 57 to 105 °C - The vacuum in the brake servo is higher than the specified level - “NEUTRAL” gear is selected - Clutch pedal is released - Accelerator pedal is released - The Stop/Start switch is in the default position “ON” - The bonnet is closed - The driver side front door is closed and the driver side front seat belt is fastened - The ECM has detected no DTC related to the Stop Start system - The ESP control module has detected no DTC related to the Stop Start system - The ABS is not in operation - The cabin temperature is within the preset temperature range (Auto A/C model) - Air outlet is controlled, excluding “DEF” position (Auto A/C model) - No DTC is detected concerning the DC/DC converter - The Stop/Start control module has detected no DTC

Working Procedure:

1. Warm-up engine to operating temperature 2. Stop engine and wait 10 seconds 3. Perform Stop/Start learning procedure

Note: Perform the following learning procedure within a distance of approx. 500 m (1/3 mile)

- Start engine and let it run at idle for 1 minute - Select 1st gear and accelerate vehicle with accelerator pedal pressed half way up to 35 km/h (22 mph) - Shift from 1st gear into 5th gear at 35 km/h (22 mph) and accelerate with accelerator pedal pressed half way up to at least 70 km/h (44 mph) - Brake vehicle to stop - Let engine idle for 1 minute

4. Check Stop/Start function

If the following conditions are met the engine will stop automatically:

- Stop/Start Function is “ON” - Vehicle is stationary - Transmission is in “NEUTRAL” - Clutch pedal is not depressed

Note: If the engine does not stop automatically repeat the Steps 2. - 4. until the engine stops by engine auto stop control. When the driver depresses the clutch pedal to engage first gear the engine re-starts automatically. In future it will be possible to check ECM learning cycle status via TECH2. This TECH2 function is currently not available.
