REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Note. For removal and installation of components not covered in this article, see A/C-HEATER SYSTEM - MANUAL article.
Discharge A/C system using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Remove drive belt. Remove front bolt securing A/C compressor to mounting bracket. Raise and support vehicle. Remove A/C compressor splash shield. Disconnect A/C compressor connector. Remove rear bolts and compressor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Evacuate and charge system.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove control panel trim plate. Remove control panel screws. Pull out control panel, and disconnect electrical connectors. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Removal & Installation (Driver Side)
Remove programmer. See PROGRAMMER. Remove air mix door actuator from programmer. To install, reverse removal procedure. Adjust air mix door link. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR MIX DOOR LINK under ADJUSTMENTS.
Removal & Installation (Passenger Side)
Lower glove box door. At passenger-side air mix door actuator, disconnect link rod from door lever. see scheme 2 Disconnect actuator electrical connector. Remove screws and actuator. To install, reverse removal procedure. Adjust air mix door link. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR MIX DOOR LINK under ADJUSTMENTS.
Sensor is located behind front grille, on center support. Disconnect sensor connector, and remove sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Remove right underhood fuse block, if necessary, to blower control module. (Scheme 4) Disconnect blower control module connector. Remove blower control module. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect blower motor connector. Remove cooling tube from blower motor. Remove screws. Remove blower motor and fan assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Sensor is located to right of steering column, on knee bolster assembly. Remove knee bolster assembly. Remove sensor grille. Release sensor retaining clips (accessible through grille hole). Disconnect sensor connector. Remove sensor from aspirator tube. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Remove door handle insert. Remove control panel trim plate. Disconnect wiring connector. Remove control panel. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Lower glove box door. Disconnect wiring and vacuum connectors. Disconnect air mix door link rod from programmer. see scheme 2 Remove programmer. To install, reverse removal procedure. Adjust air mix door link. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR MIX DOOR LINK under ADJUSTMENTS.
Remove defroster grille by popping it out of place. Turn solar sensor 1/4 turn. Pull solar sensor out of cavity. Disconnect electrical connector. To install, reverse removal procedure.
