- Perform NORMAL SYSTEM RESPONSE TEST. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using Tech 1 scan tester, select HVAC TESTS -DATA PAIR FOR MIX DOOR NO. 1. Set temperature control to full cold position. If Tech 1 scan tester displays commanded (COM) door position of 100 percent, go to next step. If Tech 1 scan tester does not display commanded (COM) door position of 100 percent, replace programmer.
- Set temperature control to full hot position. If Tech 1 scan tester displays commanded (COM) door position of 00 percent, go to next step. If scan tester does not display commanded (COM) door position of 00 percent, replace programmer.
- Compare actual value (ACT) displayed on Tech 1 scan tester with commanded (COM) values. If values are not within 5 percent, go to next step. If values are within 5 percent, replace programmer.
- Inspect air mix door for broken or binding components, or improper adjustment. See ADJUSTMENTS. Repair as necessary. If no problems are found, replace programmer.
- Perform NORMAL SYSTEM RESPONSE TEST. Disconnect passenger air mix door actuator connector, located on programmer. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between passenger air mix door actuator harness connector terminals No. 8 (White wire) and No. 10 (White wire). If voltage is approximately 5 volts, go to step 3). If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, go to next step.
- Inspect passenger air mix door actuator, associated wiring and harness connector for loose or poor connections between actuator and programmer. Repair as necessary. If no problems are found, replace programmer.
- Measure voltage between passenger air mix door actuator harness connector terminals No. 8 (White wire) and No. 9 (White wire). If voltage is at least 4 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4 volts, inspect wiring and connectors between passenger air mix door actuator and programmer for loose or poor connections. Repair as necessary. If no problems are found, replace programmer.
- Inspect passenger air mix door for broken or binding components, or improper adjustment. See ADJUSTMENTS. Repair as necessary. If no problems are found, replace passenger air mix door actuator.
