TRANSFER CASE FLUID CAPACITY
- Warm up transmission fluid.
- Stop engine.
- Remove retaining bolt for transmission dipstick.
- Remove drain plug, and allow fluid to drain. Refill with new transmission fluid. See «RECOMMENDED FLUIDS»(ref-167414-S39104297952004101300000) . Reinstall drain plug. Tighten drain plug to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-167414-S33189521732004101300000) . Always refill same volume with drained fluid: To flush out old fluid from transmission cooler, pour in new fluid in fill pipe with the engine idling and at the same time drain the old fluid from the radiator cooler hose return side. When the fluid coming out is about the same color of the new fluid, flushing is complete. The amount of new transmission fluid to use should be about 30 to 50 percent of specified capacity.
- Check fluid level and condition. See «CHECKING FLUID LEVELS»(ref-167414-S03961663722004101300000) . If fluid level is still dirty, repeat steps 2 - 5 .
- Install transmission dipstick in fill pipe. Tighten dipstick retaining bolt to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-167414-S33189521732004101300000) .
