ENGINE COOLANT : Inspection
| WARNING | Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high pressure fluid escaping from the radiator. Wrap a thick cloth around the cap. Slowly push down and turn it a quarter turn to allow built-up pressure to escape. Carefully remove the cap by pushing down and turning it all the way. |
INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL
It is necessary to replace it at the recommended intervals, more often under dusty driving conditions. Refer to PERIODIC MAINTENANCE .
INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION
- Check the engine oil level. Refer to «ENGINE OIL LEVEL»(ref-367307-S04463178702010072700000) .
- Start engine, and make sure there are no leaks of engine oil.
- Stop engine and wait for 10 minutes.
- Check the engine oil level and adjust as necessary. Refer to «ENGINE OIL LEVEL»(ref-367307-S04463178702010072700000) .

- Remove intake manifold. Refer to «INTAKE MANIFOLD»(ref-367306-S34771371052010072700000) .
- Remove ignition coil. CAUTION: Handle it carefully and avoid impacts. Never disassemble.
- Remove spark plug using suitable tool. CAUTION: Never drop or shock it.
- Remove rocker cover. Loosen bolts in reverse order as shown in illustration. <= Engine front

- Remove the ignition coil. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-367322-S28184234642010072700000) ".
- Remove the spark plug with a suitable spark plug wrench.
- Do not use a wire brush for cleaning the spark plugs. Replace as necessary.
- If plug is covered with carbon, a spark plug cleaner may be used. Cleaner air pressure : less than 588 kPa (6 kg/cm 2 , 85 psi) Cleaning time : less than 20 seconds
- Checking and adjusting plug gap is not required between change intervals. If the gap is out of specification, replace the spark plug. Gap (nominal) : 1.1 mm (0.043 in)
