FUEL FILTER : Removal and Installation

The fuel filter is part of the Fuel level sensor, fuel filter and fuel pump assembly and is not serviced separately. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Scheme 8: REMOVAL

Note. The viscous paper type filter does not need cleaning between replacement intervals. Replace the air filter as necessary for periodic maintenance. Refer to " FOR USA AND CANADA : Introduction of Periodic Maintenance " FOR MEXICO : Introduction of Periodic Maintenance ".

  1. Remove the air cleaner case (upper).
  2. Remove the air cleaner filter from the air cleaner case (lower).

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the new air cleaner filter in the air cleaner case (lower).
  2. Install the air cleaner case (upper).

Scheme 9: OIL LEVEL
  1. Before starting the engine make sure the vehicle is parked on a flat and level surface, then check the oil level. If the engine is already running, turn it off and allow 10 minutes before checking.
  2. Check that the oil level is within the low (L) to high (H) range as indicated on the dipstick.
  3. If the engine oil level is out of range, add oil as necessary. Refer to " «FOR USA AND CANADA : Fluids and Lubricants»(ref-382161-S12522039562011011400000) ".

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

SPARK PLUG SPECIFICATION

CAUTIONDo not drop or shock spark plug.

TRANSFER FLUID : Replacement

CAUTIONIf using the vehicle for towing, the transfer fluid must be replaced as specified. Refer to " FOR USA AND CANADA : Introduction of Periodic Maintenance " FOR MEXICO : Introduction of Periodic Maintenance ".

Scheme 10: DRAINING
  1. Stop engine.
  2. Remove the drain plug and gasket and drain the fluid.
  3. Install the drain plug with a new gasket to the transfer. Tighten to the specified torque. Refer to " «DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY»(ref-382185-S11347808432011011400000) ". CAUTION: Do not reuse gasket.

Scheme 11: FILLING
  1. Remove the filler plug and gasket.
  2. Fill the transfer with new fluid until the fluid level reaches the specified limit near the filler plug hole. Fluid grade and capacity : Refer to " «FOR USA AND CANADA : Fluids and Lubricants»(ref-382161-S12522039562011011400000) , «FOR MEXICO : Fluids and Lubricants»(ref-382161-S21838976482011011400000) ". CAUTION: Carefully fill fluid. (Fill up for approx. 3 minutes.)
  3. Leave the vehicle for 3 minutes, and check fluid level again.
  4. Install the filler plug with a new gasket to the transfer. Tighten to the specified torque. Refer to " «DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY»(ref-382185-S11347808432011011400000) ". CAUTION: Do not reuse gasket.
