  1. Use the parts cleaner (3M™ AAD Part number 8906 or equivalent) to degrease the inside circumference of the windshield glass and the body flanges.
  2. Position the windshield spacer to the specified position of the windshield glass so that there is no adrift or warped surface inside the windshield glass.
  3. Install the glass stoppers and pin to the specified position of the windshield glass.

>> B << WINDSHIELD MOLDING/WINDSHIELD GLASS INSTALLATION

CAUTIONDo not apply double-sided tape at the corner ends of the windshield molding [15 mm (0.59 in)] as shown in the illustration.

Scheme 10

Scheme 10
  1. Apply double-sided tapes to the concaved part of the windshield molding.
  2. Install the windshield molding to the specified position of the windshield glass.
  3. When replacing the windshield glass, temporarily set the windshield glass against the body, and make a mating marks on the windshield glass and body. CAUTION: The primer strengthens the adhesive, so be sure to apply it. However, a too thick application will weaken the adhesive. Do not touch the coated surface. Do not apply the primer on the remaining adhesive. The adhesive strength may be weakened.
  4. Soak a sponge in the primer, and apply evenly to the windshield glass and the body in the specified places.
  5. After applying the primer, let it dry for 3 minutes or more.
  6. Fill a sealant gun with adhesive. Then apply the adhesive evenly around the windshield glass within 30 minutes after the primer application. NOTE: Cut the tip of the sealant gun nozzle into a V-shape to simplify adhesive application.
  7. After applying the adhesive, align the mating marks on the windshield glass and the body, and then press the windshield glass gently to seat it.
  8. Use a spatula or the like to remove any excessive adhesive. Then clean the surface with the parts cleaner (3M™ AAD Part number 8906 or equivalent). Leave the vehicle stationary until the adhesive sets. CAUTION: Move the vehicle carefully. When testing for water leakage, do not pinch the end of the hose to spray the water.
  9. Wait 30 minutes or more, and then test for water leakage.

Scheme 14

Scheme 14
  1. In order to protect the body (paint surface) surface, apply protective tapes to body area around the quarter window glass.
  2. Apply protective tapes to avoid the quarter window glass assembly from dropping.
  3. Use a piano wire to cut away the adhesive of the quarter window glass.
  4. If the quarter window glass assembly is reused, make the mating marks on the glass assembly and body, and use the special tool window glass holder (MB990480) to remove the glass assembly. CAUTION: Be careful not to cut away more adhesive than is necessary. Be careful not to damage a paintwork on the body surface with a knife. If the paintwork is damaged, repair the damaged area with touch-up paint or anti-rust agent. If the quarter window glass assembly is reused, scrape away all traces of old adhesive from the quarter window glass assembly.
  5. Use a knife to cut away the remaining adhesive so that the adhesive thickness is within 2 mm (0.08 in) around the entire circumference of the body flange.
  6. Finish the flange surfaces so that they are smooth.
CAUTIONLeave the degreased parts for 3 or more minutes to dry well, before starting on the next step. Do not touch the degreased parts.
  1. Use parts cleaner (3M™ AAD Part number 8906 or equivalent) to degrease the inside circumference of the quarter window glass assembly and the body flanges.
  2. Apply the primer and adhesive.
  3. Install the quarter window glass assembly by the same procedures as for the windshield glass (Refer to «WINDSHIELD»(ref-593014-S39745400812014011300000) .

  1. Use the parts cleaner (3M™ AAD Part number 8906 or equivalent) to degrease the inside circumference of the liftgate window glass and liftgate flanges.
  2. Peel off the protection sheet on the back of the liftgate dam and paste it to the specified position on the liftgate window glass.
  3. Install the glass stopper and fastener to the specified positions on the liftgate window glass.
  4. Install the fasteners to the specified positions on the liftgate flange.
  1. Apply the primer and adhesive.

Scheme 23

Scheme 23
  1. In order to protect the body paint surface, apply protective tapes to the body area around the roof glass.
  2. Cut away the roof glass adhesive by using a piano wire in the following procedures: CAUTION: When cutting away the front part of the adhesive, roll up the windshield molding lip as shown in the illustration and secure it by tapes to prevent the lip from damaging. To make the adhesive cut away easier, use a knife to cut away the lip part of the roof molding front (left and right sides) and roof molding rear. Use a sharp-point drill to make a hole in the roof glass adhesive. Pass a piano wire from the inside to outside of the vehicle through the hole. CAUTION: Do not let the piano wire touch the edge of the roof glass. Pull the piano wire alternately from the inside and outside along the roof glass to cut away the adhesive.
  3. Make mating marks on the roof glass and body. Use the window glass holder (Special tool: MB990480) to remove the roof glass. CAUTION: Be careful not to remove more adhesive than is necessary. Be careful not to damage the paintwork on the body surface with a knife. If the paintwork is damaged, repair the damaged area with repair paint or anti-rust agent. If the roof glass is reused, scrape away all traces of old adhesive, roof window spacer, glass stopper and pin.
  4. Use a knife to cut away the remaining adhesive so that the adhesive thickness is within 2 mm (0.08 in) around the entire circumference of the body flange.
  5. Finish the flange surfaces so that they are smooth.

CAUTIONBefore proceeding to the next operation, leave the decreased parts for 3 minutes or more to dry. Do not touch the coated surface.

Scheme 24

Scheme 24
  1. Use the parts cleaner (3M™ AAD Part number 8906 or equivalent) to degrease the inside circumference of the roof glass and the body flanges.
  2. Install the roof molding front and rear with double-sided tapes to the outer circumference of the roof glass.
  3. Position the roof window spacer front (A/B) and roof window spacer side/rear to the specified positions of the roof glass so that there is no adrift or warped surface inside the roof glass.
  4. Install the glass stoppers to the front corner ends of the roof glass.
  5. Install the pin to the rear center part of the roof glass.

>> B << ROOF GLASS INSTALLATION

CAUTIONWhen installing the roof glass, roll up the windshield molding lip as shown in the illustration and secure it by tapes to prevent the lip from trapping.
  1. Apply the primer and adhesive.
  2. Install the roof glass by the same procedures as for the windshield glass (Refer to «WINDSHIELD»(ref-593014-S39745400812014011300000) .
